UNE AUTRE TERRE

For this listener, Patroux's album, UNE AUTRE TERRE, falls short of its intended mark. Several tunes drag on a bit too long (even among one's I like). That's not to say there aren't fine selections to be found. Foremost among them is the title track. However, it too is somewhat compromised: a lot of the musical detail flirts with inaudibility and the volume is too low relative to the other songs on the album. Other notable tracks include Nature's Revenge, Vent Cosmique, Les Cavaliers du Desert, and The Virtual World. Taken altogether, UNE AUTRE TERRE yields a mixed bag that includes some gems, some fair-to-middling selections, and some tunes that just turned this listener off. While I would recommend a one-time listen for anyone into New Age/Ambient, this album will find its audience primarily among die-hard Patroux fans.

So much to dream about, so much beauty to attend to, so much music to love, and I am home, here on this album . . . floating through the clouds and listening to this gorgeous music. . . Flying amongst the stars as I listen and rejoice with the melodies and peace descends on my soul. This music is inspiring and rewarding to listen to on a warm sunny afternoon while writing and being creative. The flow from song to song was perfect and held the mood well throughout the album.
