Emil Valev

Born – 1957 – Sofia

Interested in arts from his early years.

Meet the culture of Egipt , Greece ,Europe, Russia at his teenage.

1973 – study In art high school in Sofia . Interested in surrealism and cubism .

Also Interested in music and cinema  - his musical preferences were – Pink Floyd ,Led Zeppelin, Roxy Music,  King Crimson ,ELP, etc.

In cinema – S.Tarkovski , I.Bergman , J. Losey , M. Antonioni  etc.

Study guitar and piano.

1979 – travel to Tunisia where start to study Yoga and become a vegetarian.

1980 – study at Ecole Nationale D’Art – Cergy  - France. Research on colours , abstract art – Kandinski , Klee , experimental art – installations , theater .

Travel to India and Nepal guided from his way in Yoga and meditation . Start to smoke Ganja.

1981 – 1986  graduated at Academie Nationale de Beaux Arts – Paris

At  this  time   concentrate playing music – pop rock, blues stile . Start to compose music .

1986 – return to Sofia and start to play in several groups as a guitarist and vocal – hard rock stile .

At the same time seriously continue to paint.

Make  illustrations , book covers , drawings for publishing.

1988 – first exhibition in Sofia with surreal and hyperrealist paintings.

1989 – 1990 travel to Germany and France – compose the songs for the group : Violet General –dark wave ,  psychedelic underground + industrial .

1991 - Participation in vanguard actions , festivals and art groups - (art in action), Ka , aaa , etc..

Active period with some exhibitions and many concerts ; experimental projects with Jorg Lenzlinger , Pedro Cobler , Wim Kolb /Switserland – relies several albums , concerts and sound actions.

Paint in expressionist manner.

Work experimental video . Participate in Festivals - AVE ,FIX

Relies several albums with Violet General and solo –dark  wave ,  psychedelic underground , industrial , experimental , space .

1994 – 1997  five live music tours to Austria and Slovakia with noise music.

Dark period for the Bulgarian artists

2000 – 10-th exhibition  in Sofia.

2004 – create the Bulgarian Logo.

Several multimedia actions with experimental noise music and video and two exhibitions  with abstract works .

2005 – multimedia action with noise music & video in National Gallery – Sofia

2006 - multimedia action with noise music & video in Plovdiv – Night of the museums – Sariev Gallery

2007 - multimedia action with noise music , video and abstract paintings in Sofia – Art Center – Boris Hristov

2008 - multimedia action with noise music and paintings in Sofia – Seasons Gallery
