Roberto Diana is an Italian guitar player, engineer and producer. He plays pretty much anything and everything with strings, including acoustic and electric guitars, lap steel, dobro, weissenborn, banjo and bouzouki.

Brought up in Sardinia on Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani and Gary Moore, along with healthy doses of the Doors and local roots music, Roberto moved to Milan at a young age to work with Pietro Nobile (twice voted top Italian acoustic guitar player) and Donato Begotti (legendary electric guitar teacher).

Since then, Roberto has played literally hundreds of gigs. Also, he has established a solid reputation in the studio, having worked both as an engineer and a producer on more than 30 recording projects with international artists such as Will T. Massey, Steve Lukather, Tony Levin, Vinnie Colaiuta, Frank Gambale, Dean Parks, Brian Ray, Roberta Faccani, Pietro Nobile, JP Cervone, Simon Phillips, James Raymond, Linda, Rachel Z, Richard Hunter, Mike Slo-Mo Brenner, Giampiero Ingrassia, Chris Cacavas, Roberto Della Grotta, Simone Borghi and Roberto Gualdi.

In 2007, along with fellow Sardinian Marco Pinna, he founded Ses Cordas (Six Strings in Sardinian), an acoustic duo focusing on Mediterranean roots music. They released an album, “Mediterranean Journey”, in 2008 and toured the record both in Italy and abroad.

In 2008 Roberto joined roots rock band Lowlands and, to date, has recorded three albums with them, also touring internationally with the band. Roberto co-produced all three albums with bandleader Edward Abbiati and also played electric, acoustic and slide guitar.

In 2011 he played on and co-produced with Edward Abbiati the album “Fathers & Sons”

for Scottish folk duo Donald and Jen MacNeill and played on the subsequent tour. The album received a 5 star review from R2 magazine in England.

In the same year he released a limited edition CD consisting of rough tracks from his forthcoming solo album “Raighes” (“Roots” in the Sardinian language)

Roberto has been invited to play at some of the most important trade fairs in the world, including the

NAMM Show (Los Angeles), MusikMesse (Francoforte), Disma (Rimini), SHG (Milano) and Acoustic Guitars International Meeting (Sarzana).

Demonstrator of different brands of guitar tools (Reference Laboratoy Cables, MN Guitars, Elixir Strings, Source Audio Pedals and Gibimods)

The lutherie, MN Guitars , has built a "Twilight 001/09 Roberto Diana Signature guitar”

, which was presented for the first time in Los Angeles at NAMM ‘09.

Roberto is a subtle yet powerful guitarist, equally at ease in both electric and acoustic settings. His personal musical style infuses classic guitar virtuosity with a rock n roll sensibility, making for an exciting and enthralling listen.
