We don't play pop music, we don't write music for art's sake, we don't represent any movements, we're not hip, we're not cutting edge, we don't dress to be cool. We manage ourselves, we write our own songs, we do our own recordings, we shoot our own videos, we design our own covers, we run our own website. We're not generally negative people. Oh yes, and we're not lefthanded.
Fiercely independent, mostly-Irish female-fronted three-piece, I Am Not Lefthanded are known for their homemade, quirky videos as much as their lyrical, evocative songs. Playing play sparse, uplifting post-grunge music, they've been described as sounding like ‘Natalie Merchant fronting Death Cab for Cutie’.
2010 saw them release their sophomore EP, Time To Leave, 5 songs of swift exits, burnt bridges and mended hearts, with extensive Irish touring, earning them effusive praise online and in print, and receiving radio play across Ireland. In September, they headed to the US for a 15-date tour across 10 states, making friends and picking up new recipes along the way.
The band have just completed a partnership with fan-funding website SliceThePie.com to raise $11,000 to record their first full-length album. They're currently holed up in the English countryside writing and recording. They're releasing it into the wild in early 2012.
