In September 2007 the Rockalists were formed by guitarist Max Goericke and pianist and vocalist Jan Kuswari.
Even previous to his year in the US Jan had the thought of forming a band and after getting back he and his friend Max got together to make music. At first they practised at home, until Jan was offered a practise room for free. After getting track of the equipment, they started practising regularly.
In retrospect, completing the band with two more members was due to a string of unbelievably lucky coincidences. Classical flutist Markus Hensel moved to Munich and Max met him in his class at school. Becoming friends Max asked Markus, who was also learning to play the guitar at that time, if he wanted to be the bassist in their band. Markus, Max and Jan had been practising together for a month.
Also changing to their school, Michael Demel quickly became friends with Jan, then also with Max and Markus. Because Jan and Michael took the same music class, Jan considered Michael as a drummer soon he was an official member. After shortly being called Glamis, they named themselves the Rockalists.
For two years they had been writing, practicing and playing a few gigs. Their genre is rock music in its purest form - raw, loud and heavily blues influenced. Their sound however, reminiscent of the early 70's, can hardly be associated with another band: Sometimes like Zep, sometimes like the Fab Four and sometimes Purplelish, but they always strive for absolute equality of their instruments, so that piano, bass and drums solo bits are not uncommon. Now their repertoire ranges straight-out 3-minute rock songs, over minor drenched melancholies and rock 'n' roll piano ballads to bluesy, sometimes even folky tunes.
