BIOGRAPHY
Pablo Cepeda was born on December 2nd, 1977 in Capital Federal, Argentina. He started his studies at the age of ten at the Superior School of Fine Arts (Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes), branch of the National University of La Plata (UNLP, for its abbreviation in Spanish) and graduated receiving his diploma with concentration in Music.
At the same time, he took private classes with distinguished Music Teachers like Raúl Rossi, David Bellisomi and Guillermo Jacubovicz.
He was part of the violin group of the Superior School of Fine Arts’ Studio Orchestra, and part of the Gilardo Gilardi Music Conservatory’s Orchestra in La Plata city; both under the direction of Teacher and Composer Norberto Ataguille, giving performances at “Teatro Argentino” Theatre and “Salón Dorado” of the Municipality of the mentioned city.
Playing for those Orchestras, he took part in different musical events in various places of Argentina.
Despite the strong influence of classical music throughout his musical education, he decided to explore other styles; that is how he incorporated the violin to several rock bands taking part as a permanent member in some of them. He was part of the rock band “Electra”, where he played for three years and with them he participated in different contests, getting on some occasions awards and mentions. It was in one of these contests that they got the Second Mention among ten finalist bands; achieving thus their participation in the recording of an LP compiled by Polygram Label.
With “Electra” he gave performances in various places in Capital Federal, Great Buenos Aires and the Atlantic Coast of Argentina, as well as on the radio and Television.
As a guest musician he took part in bands like “La Serena” and “Juana La Loca” and with artists like María Gabriela Epúmer (for whom he recorded in her second album Perfume together with Robert Fripp, Richard Coleman, Fito Paez, Charly García, Francisco Bochatón among others) and Francisco Bochatón (for whom he recorded for his LP Cazuela, together with Gustavo Ceratti, Leo García and Ulises Di Salvo and in his LP Hasta decir palabra along with Maria Gabriela Epúmer, Celeste Carballo, Ulises di Salvo among others ).
He also participated in the band “Interama” with whom he recorded for the albums El Jardín que Florece sin Cesar and Iniciando la Máquina de Ángeles.
At the same time he took part as guest violinist in the video making of “En la Esfera” song (MTV rotation) and has performed with them in several live concerts.
He also participated as on-stage violinist and did the musical composition for the Play “Icarovoló” (which won the 2004 contest organised by the local Comedy House of La Plata city) and for the dance-drama Play “Así en Verona como en el Cielo”. And, as a guest violinist, he was also part of the recording of the 2003 last chapter of the TV series “Los Simuladores”, shown by Telefe TV channel. He collaborated as a guest violinist for the recording of the music in the Play “Dragón Blanco” by Fabio Posca.
Thanks to his inquisitive and innovative personality, he decided to transcend his boundaries and open his path when he experienced with other styles like Flamenco, Tango and Celtic music. But where he felt more at ease to give expression to his creative nature was within the instrumental-ambient style where he incorporates a multiplicity of sonorous tones (created by different kinds of synthesizers, samplers, sequences and string sessions -violin, violas and violoncellos-) thus achieving in his Work the particular style which so characterises him as a musician.
Together with classical music, there have been some bands which have greatly influenced him, like the French duet Air, Radiohead; Goldfrapp; among others.
During the year 2001, he devoted himself to the recording of his first solo EP entitled Donde muere el Silencio, and in the year 2003 he performed in solo electro-acoustic concerts in different music rooms in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Barcelona (Spain).
On some of these occasions he had the artistic collaboration of the Spanish band “Alquimia de Sol”; who have done image projections in concerts by means of lights, shadows and moving textures, thus creating suggestive pictures and images behind the musician on stage.
During the years 2004 and 2005 he devoted himself exclusively to the recording of his first solo LP called Le Cicle du Calme.
From September 2006 on he began performing concerts presenting this album. Those presentations were accompanied by the projection of images on stage composed by the visual artist Federico Violante, who has worked on them by combining art, filming, photography and dance in a direct relation with the music.
At present, he is devoted to the carrying out of his third album.
