Vanavara, Anavar, Annavarkan, Andaman... Point 60°20'43''N 102°17'03''E has a lot of names.
And there is something behind that. Vanavara is not just an ordinary rural settlement, placed somewhere deep in the Evenkiyskiy region of the Krasnoyarskiy krai. Vanavara is the closest to the Epicenter enhabited spot. The place, where "pilgrims" from all over the world arrive and set off towards the very heart of the Tunguska Mystery along the Kulik's Path.

The settlement of Vanavara is situated in the picturesque place on a steep cliffy bench of the Podkamennaya Tunguska river at the mouth of the small taiga river named Vanavarka. By 1908 there had been a trading outpost - a nomad camp of the Evenki hunters. On June, 30 at a distance of just 60 kilometers from that place an explosion, which power had equalled 2000 times of the explosive power of the Hiroshima bomb, had roared over the Evenki taiga... The place of the Tunguska Body had been searched for almost 20 years. All expeditions, setting off towards the place of the Tunguska Catastrophy, moved through Vanavara. As a result, that old trading outpost became the world-wide known settlement, that had accumulated its own mysteries and lores during more than a hundred years of its existence...

Today, on the 104th anniversary of the Tunguska Body fall, we are here, in Vanavara, ready to be absorbed by the legends of this enigmatic place and wander around its outskirts.
