This album was initially edited in 2007. Some of the tracks have experienced changes in his structure adapting them especially for the likantropika concerts. For this motive we have decided remaster the album and to edit it again with a bonus track, Hidden. Thanks.

This surely is one of the most interesting bands here on Jamendo, great remixes of known tracks, a beautiful new piece. In the woods is definitely one of the best tracks available. Everybody should head to Andorra, to see this band live.... meanwhile you get a great preview with this album. Andorra is a little heaven in Europe. Thank you for again great moments....

Intelligent electronic music offering some emotional depth

A decade or so ago there was a short period when so-called chillout music seemed to be taking over the world. Much of the electronic music that came to be tagged as such actually possessed almost cinematic appeal - I'm thinking of tracks by artists such as Danmass, A Man Called Adam and Akasha amongst others. Indeed, all three of these acts appeared on "Serve Chilled", a particularly memorable compilation given away free with the short-lived "Later" magazine publication in the UK. The music on this compilation was striking due to its blend of strong melodies and vocal samples which combined to provide an emotional depth missing on most other electronic music. Listening to this album there are moments where Likantropika's approach takes me back to that era. Indeed, at its best "The Other Side" offers at least a couple of tracks which would have been perfectly at home on the "Serve Chilled" compilation: "In the Woods" which opens with birdsong and gradually builds towards an intense melodic climax; and "Blue River Turns Red" which adopts a more breaks-oriented approach. The album is a solid listen throughout. I'm not particularly keen on the Gregorian chant style vocals used on a couple of the tracks but that is a matter of personal taste perhaps. Overall this is a rewarding listen and an excellent introduction to the work of this band. I can't honestly say that Andorra is a place that has registered on my musical radar before. That has surely changed now.

Three entities I cannot connect with on myspace all in the same place, how strangely life treats me. My next mood change will be 'frustrated'. I love the first track, because I just do. It's all refreshingly different. However, my association with this album is all about The Other Side, even if only momentarily, I am reaching through the veil that separates reality. In fact, I think I'm stuck on the aetheric fence lost In the Woods. Don't know which way to go for the best, but music as good as this makes me want to stay and listen and enjoy. So, thanks for that at least. Blue River Turns Red brings memories back for me and I revel in the luxuriousness of those moments as I listen to the plaintive melodies and well organised rhythmic structures. Red running over white... and it includes the release into the freedom of returning to nature. The advent of another conglomeration of molecules bent on survival, until the river turns again. The white dame makes me think of Madame de Pompadour, pre-revolutionary dames where of a different caste then, than the array we are presented with nowadays. Muncaster ghost on 1956, a finer array of sounds and rhythms than any celebrity sideshow that I have ever seen. Captures the sense of eternity a ghost is being, the idea for 'I'm a Celebrity Spirit, Send Me To The Light' springs to my awful sense of humour. Mind you my last bright idea, as a joke was a web comparison site that compared web comparison sites, and somebody has done it. Couldn't believe my senses. Where does it end? Who cares, because inherent in this music and that Hidden by other talents, is a new beginning for culture at least, if not another revolution itself. Jamendo is a place of diverse and rare talent. There is a sense of having made a little journey here, albeit a bit introspectively, but that's the goodness of music sometimes. What you think, or even write, is subject to a whole other set of effective variables. And, the last track brings me back to the beginning, I bite my tail as the snake I am. I always come back. That just beggars the question, why? Maybe for this here that I do now. Maybe something unrelated. Thanks for the trip.
