Nascent Music was a podcast of improvised instrumental music by me on solo Chapman Stick. From the debut episode on October 21, 2005 to the final recording on May 21, 2008, I sat down one or more times a week to play whatever music might come to me (aided by various sound processing and MIDI gear to add textures and layers to the sound of one guy tapping), and released MP3s of those recordings on nascentmusic.com. The show varied in musical style over the years, and I never really came up with the perfect way to describe it, but it generally blended mellow ambient soundscapes with some sort of synthesized percussion and the punchy bass sound of the Stick.
Greatest Hits and Misses is a compilation of (arguably) the best bits of Nascent Music. Weighing in at a total of 150 minutes, these 12 tracks comprise clips from nearly half of the show's 106 episodes, representing my favorite attempts, achievements, and happy accidents (with a few clams along the way).
