Organ works pulled it off...

Prelude To Monolith has a nice funereal air about it, a reasonable attempt at structuring. I like the sound of it, but then I am a big fan of organ sounds. Missing presents the listener with a different soundscape. Higher in pitch and essentially a drone, with highlights of thrashing guitar sounds and slow percussion. Then it drones, with little intervals of a chance to recover. I think the voice layer could have been quite easily left out. In fact, would have found this more tolerable without it. There are attempts at being neo-classical, but just as soon as they start to build and work, there is this attack of gruff voice and thrashing guitar, that should enhance it, but it doesn't blend well. Then about 11 and half minutes in, it does what I have been hoping to do and finds its feet well enough. Certainly took its time to make the mark. Much better balance, but the progression is not really worthwhile. Again the voice comes in and spoils what ambience is achieved. Absence Of Life has certainly hit the nail on the head with only really one short interval that is worthwhile listening to. Slip Away makes you want to. Again pretty much the same drone, with some minor moments of effort. Marche Funebre, I would say is the best track on this Prelude. Marks for the effort to the organ works, but it takes more than an organ and a few synthetic swirls to make it symphonic. Chopin didn't write works for piano, he wrote works for pianists. Big difference. I won't just assume that it is for goths, I am no goth and there are elements here that really appeal. Not a bad effort.
