I like this album not for the theme (war) but for the sound and melody. It's well played, with a good structure (3 movements with 3 interludes) for a better listening. Thanks for sharing, mr Barton K. Woolery, and i hope that your next work will come soon :) (sorry for my bad english ^^) Muz

The casual browser who just happens to land on this album page will discover very little of what musical style and content to expect. Even the title "iraquiem" is not really much of a clue, is this some sort of Requiem for Iraq for example? Well I can hopefully throw some light on what is contained within. We have three short interlude pieces each with an associated main movement. All three interludes are short, very gentle and easy on the ear. The first two main movements offer a similar musical style and experience. The sound itself is of a laid back and layered keyboard effect but does come across a little thin in places. The style is dated; I suspect this is due to the creative hardware used rather than a deliberate artistic choice. I kept being reminded of the early 1980's works of Clifford White or Nicholas Land. This is particularly so of the second main movement. Up to now I had enjoyed my little nostalgic trip back in time but that was soon to change with the arrival of movement number 3. This is a far more upbeat and faster flowing piece and as such does not sit easily with what has gone before. It has what I can best describe as a “church organ” sound. I think that is what the creator is attempting to achieve anyway. Trouble is it just does not work. The earlier sound thinness really becomes noticeable here and gives an overall effect that is not exactly enjoyable on the ear. I notice the artist regards the piece as being “uplifting”. This movement maybe, but the rest is strictly downtempo. Good overall but my reservations over the 3rd movement have cost it a point. Mélancolique certes mais surtout d'une tristesse infinie. Très contemplatif aussi, comme pour mieux nous faire comprendre. Tristesse, horreur dit l'auteur. Oui ! Émotionnellement c'est très puissant. Quand l'humain, au nom d'une idéologie devient fou et commet, en son nom, les pires abominations. Un album à "réflexion" !
