à écrit :

Myriam Matoussi chante.

Voice & music echo each other beautifully

I completely disagree with other reviewers who find the background music 'muddy' - it's not at all. Rather I find, in this album, the music and Myriam's soulful singing are matched, unlike some of her other albums where a more zippy lounge-type music is oddly paired with her Middle-Eastern voice of sensuality and longing, of the spirit traveling its long desert journeys finding oasis in beautiful music like this. I particularly like the multiple voices, the sense of mourning, of the strength of the heart of love. The background accompaniment of drums and ambient sounds and perhaps jazz instruments, it's hard to say, it's a wonderful blend, also reminds me of traditional Japanese music. I'm thinking of Shakuhachi, somehow her voice and the distant sounds, like cargo detached from its sinking boat hitting the rocks, the rhythm and power of the ocean, that assortment of natural organic sounds. (Though the last piece in the album, Yasmine President, doesn't work for me - it's a throw-back to that boppi synthesized sound of other albums which I don't find a good match for Myriam's soulful sensual voice & I'll have to delete that one from my download unfortunately, which is a pity since her voice in that piece reaches an apex of such sweetness.) That said, there's a lot of experiment in this album with different sound scapes for different tracks and sometimes in the same track and I enjoy the variety. I've downloaded for iPod pleasure as Myriam sings my world into being while I walk through the streets of my city. Thank you for sharing your talent!

...if the sounds were to be mixed with some rock or trance will probably sound very cool, however they are not; also, as i saw at many jamendo artists, there are no english lyrics, so even if might there be a message that would compensate other things, that is not available... thanks 4 sharing :)

I was seduced by the beauty of this alluring voice and entranced by the music. The artist should be applauded for making something so refreshingly fun, catchy and uplifting."Erinesh By en voute he" & "Aboibi nag Champa " would grace any music collection.
