The atmospheres of Eloy The poetry of King Crimson The boiling expressionism of Magma The melodical embrace of Pink Floyd they're all still alive here. But beware, this is not a tribute! I mean, the correct word to describe this album is PLEASURE, from start to finish. Total highlight is La Fin Absolue du Monde. Very representative of the album's style, a monster. The keys theme is moving, rythmic section is a thunderstruck (and I mean an intelligent and juicy one, not the usual speed metal crap) that I hope to experience live one of these days... yep, that's a consistent quote :) But I suggest you all to go through this album entirely from start to finish. So far (I've already listened to it first on myspace and then on the Mule) it's been an absolutely rewarding experience. I would say the listening is like a journey but I won't be correct at all; in fact this album catches you and drives you incedibly song by song, a step forward every second, but each song works for itself and gives different suggestions. Like the band wants to bring you home on your sofa after every execution and then take you by the hand again. And it all is done with, I believe, no more than 3 instruments at once. Looks like the AOBL are a, Italian three piece band (just read the band's profile). So no "proggy decorations" here, just a slim avantagarde music which goes straight to the heart. With an icy arrow. This music is simply beautiful, though making such good music today is FAR from simple... A joy for the ears, the mind, the heart, the senses. And a total blackout of the outside world for about 40 minutes. And, yes, the sound sometimes is not top notch but... who wouldn't exchange a better sound for an album cover like that!!!
