This is the first non-demo/EP by No, Really (Hannah Clemens), the slightly electro folk singer/songwriter, to show up on Jamendo. A lot of the tracks you may have heard before, so if you have already checked out No, Really, don't expect too much new in the way of songs. However, the recording quality is amazingly crisp and the performance is very well executed. I originally listened to her demo and EP, thinking "I see potential, but she's not there yet." She's there now.
No, Really has introduced a great new sound into this full album. You will notice an electronically induced slightly distant resonating/echoing quality in her voice as well as a slower more deliberate pace in the music. Perhaps it is just me, but I think that a few more instruments appear in this work as well. There is a little bit of violin that really adds a fine polish to the album.
Check out the first track, "Molten" to get an idea of what you are going to get in this album. This was probably her best track before the new album, so you will be able to compare the sounds and see the huge improvement.
In summary, this will really impress the fans of No, Really's Demo and EP. The improvements made are fantastic, and the sound is acoustic beauty with a touch of haunt.
Une voix magnifique, une guitare aux accords parfaits, une ambiance chaude qui vous met en condition pour écouter cet album jusqu'au bout.
Merci et bonne continuation.
it's hard to detail how much this album has touched me.
hannah clemens has just become by own personal bob dylan.
it's extremely rare to come across such a wonderful blend of melody, lyrical power, and vocal talent.
filled with songs that hit the perfect 'sweet spot' of sarcastic gripping social relevance, blended with devastatingly haunting heartfelt reflections, this young artist has kindled my faith in the intense magic of music.
with songs such as 'floodplain', a grim portrayal of the new orleans disaster, 'beginning of the end', a ballad of biblical based abandonment and ignorance, 'citizen, go back to sleep', exposing an encroaching totalitarian state, hannah demonstrates mastery at assuming multiple roles to sharply examine a wide range of modern ills.
this poignant social commentary is gently sweetened by delicate songs of staggering beauty that completely and entirely melt the heart. 'go' brings me to tears.
hannah's songs pour out as if from a brilliant bird caught in a cage.
be cautioned, 'rust' is instantly addictive.
these songs are a direct expression of vast courage, heart, and genius.
hannah clemens deserves the open and attentive ear of this world.
This is a very good album. What makes it so particular is the voice of the singer which is impressive, beautiful and powerful. Probably one of the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. It has something irish on it.
The melodies are excellent too.
The only thing I regret is the lack of arrangements for most of the songs, so that may sound a bit repetitive to me.
Some more strings, synth, drums and this kind of stuff behind would turn it in something really excellent.
Simply, calm and quiet.
Good voice, good lyrics.
Important.
I want hear more
Enhorabuena y saludos.
Sooo schön:-)
Super Stimme und tolle Songs.
Grüße
I waited for this album !
I listen often to the accoustic demo and I love it !
The voice is more and more beautiful.
I have to say I prefer the accoustic guitar than the electric when guitar is the only instrument on the song. (The electric guitar alone removes something).
On the contrary, the violin bring something harmonious (like the piano and the double voice, the delay on the last song... I like every little add)
the score is really superb.
could you please publish the lyrics somewhere (it's just not my native langage and I don't understand everything).
thank you for this great album !
