This odd set pulses candombe and the grove is so infectious and slightly anarchic that one feels that they are in the presence of a dozen or so drunken uncles at a wedding.The whole thing does have the feel of a dawn tavern chorus which is absolutely perfect and musically addictive. On the down side the album could have done without the "spoken word" tracks which detracted from the amorphous beauty of the finished article. Tracks 1.3.5.7,9,11.16.18.19 are outstanding and are as good as anything Alfredo Zitarrosa produced..Fascinating.
