The motives and reasons that orientate my musical choices, are surely not a linear thing and at times even a mystery to me... I'm simply unable to be faithful to a certain genre or quality pattern... the musical lover inside of me, simply don't accept restrictions and honestly, I don't care... because that irreverent attitude keeps on giving me lots and lots of satisfaction. And satisfaction is what I got here. Satisfaction trough the music itself, as a quality final result and satisfaction, realising that it promotes the collaboration an therefore a union between different nationality musicians and people in general. Despite the fact that the understanding of the language would be most certainly very interesting, this work (and the followings) are an example, an inspiration and a great pleasure.

1st opus of Mister Avi, 3rd i've the opportunity to listen to....this peculiar one reminds me, in most songs, of mister Lloyd COLE: at the crossroads of Folk, Rock, Punk and Pop with melodies near from the rivers of this English singer.... Of course it's Avi's work, but the filiation here is more obvious, at least for me :) very nice job indeed!!

I've not listened to Avi's albums in chronological order so finally hearing the first one in the series has been a pleasure. I can once again say, whilst being a very talented writer and guitarist he constantly surrounds himself with quality musicians and the production is excellent. This album is an eclectic mix of styles and forms, both modern and traditional.From "Parisian" style jazz to gentle ballads all the way to good old "shit-kicking country", language is no barrier to quality. You can feel this is music from the heart. Even though I for the most part couldn't comprehend a word.... I feel.... :-) I particularly loved track 6 "Ani Mode Lach". Moving with a beautiful flute / string arrangement. Nice one Avi.

Though one has to know Hebrew to understand most of the lyrics to these songs, music is a universal language: there's quite a variety of musical styles and instrumentation to keep the listener interested, so the language barrier shouldn't be a problem.

While some songs I couldn't understand the lyrics, the music moved me; that's what counts! Whether sang in Hebrew or English, the bass, drums & guitar have no language barrier! Very well done on production, and the musicians were having fun - that always helps. "OneThingBaby" really caught my ear, though. So I love old sounding rock... Great work, as always, Avi!

Amateurs de classic rock au sens large, c'est-à-dire avec de fortes influences blues, jazzy et autres valeurs sûres, la musique d'Avi Rosenfled est faite pour vous ! Je vais essayer de ne pas trop répéter ce que j'ai écrit à propos des autres albums, à savoir qu'il se dégage de cette musique un plaisir de jouer, de chanter, de mélanger (etc.) presque palpable. Pourquoi presque, d'ailleurs, carrément palpable, et jouissif ! Les musiciens (dont Avi lui-même, guitariste et bassiste plus que compétent, en plus d'être chanteur) assurent comme des bêtes, les arrangements sont efficaces, l'ensemble est plutôt bien produit (la voix est peut-être un peu trop en avant...). On passe du rock enjoué de "Ohev Ota" (qui sonne très américain) ou de "Horef" à des moments très mélancoliques, comme "Ani Model Lach" et ses arrangements pluvieux à en pleurer, sans oublier la case "heavy rock" obligatoire dans tout album d'A.R. ; cette fois-ci, c'est tout à la fin : "Angels in White", aux riffs tranchants et aux solos furieux ! Bon, est-ce parce qu'il s'agit du premier album, j'ai trouvé que la voix (un peu trop en avant, je l'ai déjà dit) tenait moins bien la route que d'habitude (en particulier quand notre ami essaie de tenir les notes). Et pi des fois, ça s'emballe vraiment et de drôles de dissonances (pas sûr qu'elles soient voulues, ce n'est pas du King Crimson) font leur apparition (le final de "Horef"). Tout ça, ce sont des détails, qui n'enlèvent rien à la qualité et la variété des compositions. Cela étant, si vous voulez découvrir Mr Rosenfeld, je vous conseille de commencer par les excellents "III" et "IV", sur lesquels ces (légers) défauts sont largement corrigés.

>De wat? A strange place to find a classic rock album in Israel. But since we are all (and I mean ALL, including the developing countries, through OLPC project) a global village, it is surprising, but not strange. So what's that about? When Avi PM'ed me on Jamendo to have a look into his works, I've moaned something like "oh no, not another Klezmer band" as all the dreydlekhim and krethkim lately became a bit over-popular within jazz musicians in Europe and Klezmer ensembles spawned out of nowhere in overwhelming number and spread through all the clubs with live music, making it almost impossible to hear a genuine blues/jazz jam in Warsaw. BUT -- first few seconds of the album made all my worries away. A genuine rock, blues and jazz. Sometimes interleaved with slight eastern-Mediterranean (Levant is the right term?) motives, just to spice things up, sung sometimes in English, but mostly in modern Hebrew. A hamburger, but with olives and sumac spice: Seems strange at first glance, but tastes surprisingly good, and You want more. Vocals are a bit thin, but compositions and arranges together with lyrics, not to mention instrument skills are pure art. And what I admire, are the organisational skills of the composer and producer: some pieces involve up eleven persons to record (not counting the one at the console). Yes, most of the album is done by overdubbing, but I'm pretty sure, they could assemble to give a concert. If not -- then I'm pretty sure, that Avi and Enrico alone could entertain public for whole night at Clob Rock at Racławicka street in Warsaw. My favourites? Yesh Li Shiba and Horef, but that does not say, the other tracks are any worse. Eight stars [++++++++--].
