El proyecto:
Shedneryan es una obra que Roger tiene en mente desde siempre pero, que por falta de medios, experiencia o necesidad, siempre había apartado de su mente porque no sentía que estuviera suficientemente preparado para ello. Para Roger, sus dos últimos trabajos, considerados como uno sólo de dos partes, Point of no return y The dark symphony, han sido como un entrenamiento para la futura realización de Shedneryan. En ese periodo ha ido investigando diferentes sonoridades y formas de componer. Ya en esos trabajos empezó a crear temas bastante largos de unos 10 minutos de duración. Pero la composición y grabación de Shedneryan no empezaría realmente hasta haber finalizado The dark symphony, en abril de 2009.
Shedneryan es una obra musical de 60 minutos de duración sin interrupción. Una sola composición con infinidad de cambios, sonoridades y ambientes. Este trabajo será una obra musical probablemente irrepetible debido a los rasgos que la diferencian de los otros discos de Roger. Tener una sesión correspondiente a 60 minutos de música significa tener el control de más de 750 pistas de instrumentos musicales para poder manipular en cualquier momento. Otra de las dificultades reside en poder hacer cambios de estilos, instrumentos, velocidades o ambientes continuamente sin que quede extraño al oído y vaya todo seguido con total naturalidad. Debe sorprender a cada cambio sin parecer que estemos hablando de otra cosa. Además a nivel de producción cada uno de estos cambios debe conservar unas características técnicas de masterización, ecualización y dinámica. Lo que hace que cualquier cambio, o añadido puede afectar al resto como si se tratara de fichas de dominó. Por lo especial, significativo y sobretodo personal que este trabajo supone, no habrá ninguna colaboración musical en Shedneryan. Toda la composición, interpretación y producción irá a cargo de Roger. La única colaboración externa que tendrá será en referente al arte gráfico, tal y como explicaremos más adelante.
Roger compone por necesidad interior. Cuando necesita exteriorizar sus sentimientos. Esa es una de las dificultades personales que este proyecto supone para él. Compaginar esa necesidad con las exigencias de la obra. Porque será la obra la que guiará. Pero afortunadamente vió una manera de solucionar ese problema. Pues la misma melodía se puede arreglar de diferentes formas cambiando el fondo musical. Así pues Roger puede exteriorizar su estado anímico a la vez que Shedneryan puede conservar un hilo musical coherente.
La historia:
Uno de los principales objetivos de Shedneryan es que se convierta en un lienzo mental en blanco. Que cada persona pueda crear su propia historia. Por ese motivo la única pauta que se presenta como hilo conductor es simplemente la acción de abrir una cajita de música mágica de donde saldrá todo un mundo imaginario. A partir de ahí y acompañado por la banda sonora musical el propio oyente irá poniendo imágenes, movimientos y vida a lo que va oyendo en función de lo que perciba. Lo interesante de Shedneryan es que permitirá crear tantas historias como personas hay en el mundo. Añadiendo que la misma persona puede crear infinitas versiones dependiendo del estado de ánimo que se tenga en el momento que escuche esta banda sonora.
El nombre:
El título del Cd, pertenece al nombre inventado por Roger para nombrar la mágica cajita de música. Si abrimos cualquier buscador, por ejemplo Google, podemos intentar poner letras o palabras al azar, y descubriremos que prácticamente todo existe. Así que esa fue una de las dificultades. Buscar un nombre inventado para la caja que no existiera o que por lo menos tuviera las mínimas entradas posibles. Hasta el momento Shedneryan no existía.
La portada:
Todas las portadas referentes a la música de Roger han tenido siempre una gran importancia. Y esta no podía ser menos. Debía seguir con la línea de estilo mágico, surrealista e irreal de todas las demás pero al mismo tiempo conseguir ser única y diferente. La portada es el único aspecto que Roger ha preferido confiar a alguien externo. Siendo la autora de la portada la única colaboración que tendrá este trabajo. Hace tiempo, Roger recibió un mail de una artista alemana a quien su música había entusiasmado. Se ofreció para crear la portada de su próximo CD. A Roger le encantó su trabajo artístico y vio enseguida que la línea estilística de Eva Ludwig era perfecta para la continuación del arte musical que acompañó las portadas hasta el momento. Eva Ludwig es una escritora profesional alemana profesional, directora de cine de películas de empresa y artista de Bellas Artes. Desde entonces y por unos meses fueron hablando sobre cómo debería ser la imagen que ilustraría Shedneryan. Eva fue creando muchos bocetos y apuntes para ser analizados y conseguir una obra única que acompañara a la música a la perfección.
Enseguida hubo muy buena entendida entre ellos y Eva pudo empezar su obra artística que realizó durante varios meses. La portada esta llena de detalles y simbolismos. En la imagen se presenta la caja Shedneryan. Dentro de un mundo de fantasía donde Roger nos conducirá a través de su música. Hay una obertura en forma de oreja simbolizando el sentido auditivo. Mediante el oído podremos entrar en ese mundo mágico. Fuera queda la realidad. Esa es una de las diferencias respecto a las dos últimas portadas, para Point of no return y The Dark Symphony, donde era la irrealidad la que se intuía al otro lado. Unos finos hilillos transportan las vibraciones musicales desde la caja a todo ese mundo fantástico para moldearlo al son de la música y de ella salen también todos los personajes y criaturas que vivirán en ese mundo. El ambiente que rodea la caja es ambiguo, puede ser agua o cielo. Depende del momento, de la situación, de la historia. Al igual que pasa con las nubes y las formas que en ellas imaginamos, si miramos la sombra de las montañas, podemos ver quizá un rostro enigmático, oscuro. Un ente amenazador.

For Roger, his two latest works - Point of no Return and The Dark Symphony have been like training for the future conduct of Shedneryan. After finishing this CD’s Roger finally started to feel that he was sufficiently prepared for his masterpiece. In that period he has been investigating different sounds and ways of composing. But the writing and recording of Shedneryan haven’t started until he had completed The dark symphony, in April 2009.
Shedneryan is a musical work for 60 minutes without interruption. A single composition with numerous changes of rhythms, sounds, sensations and atmospheres. This CD is an unrepeatable musical work probably because of the unique features. It distinguishes it from other disks of Roger. Having a mix for 60 minutes of music means having control of more than 750 tracks of musical instruments to manipulate at any time. Another difficulty lies in being able to make changes of styles, instruments, rhythm, atmospheres and still make it feel like the same composition. Each change should surprise but in the same time it has to work on the general perception of listeners in the same way during all the 60 minutes. On the production level, every change must preserve a technical characteristic of mastering, equaliation and dynamics. Any minimal change can produce a domino effect on the rest of the composition. Because of the special significance and personal meaning that this masterpiece represents there is no musical collaborations in Shedneryan. All - composition, performance and production is Roger’s work. The only external support is graphic art used for a cover, which is explained later.

He was balancing between his emotions and requirements of the work, so that work was his emotional guide. In the middle of the process of composing Shedneryan, Roger found the solution of this problem – he create a main melody which was possible to arrange in different ways (by changing the background music, the pad under this melodies). So Roger could show his state of mind while Shedneryan could hold a consistent musical thread.

The history:
One of the main goal of Shedneryan is that it becomes a mental blank canvas. That each person can create their own story. For this reason the only pattern that is presented as a thread is simply the action of opening a magic music box which allows us to create whole world using our imagination. From there, accompanied by the musical soundtrack, listener will visualize himself images, movements and colours from all over his mind to what he hear in terms of what he perceive. The interesting thing is that Shedneryan will create as many stories as there are people in the world. Adding that the same person can create endless versions depending on the mood which appear during listening.
The tittle:
The title of the CD has been invented by Roger to name the magical music box. When we open any search engine such as Google, we can put there random letters or words and find there almost everything. The idea was to find the word that doesn’t exist, or at least have the minimum possible inputs. So far Shedneryan haven’t existed.
The cover:
All covers relating to the music of Roger have always had great importance in his work. And for Shedneryan, the cover must be very important too. This covers should follow the same line style - magical, surreal and unreal. At the same time they should be also unique and different one from another. The cover is the only aspect that Roger has chosen to entrust to someone outside. Long time ago, Roger received an email from a German artist who had encouraged his music. He volunteered to create the cover of his next CD. Roger loved her artwork and saw immediately that the line style of Eva Ludwig was perfect for the continuation of musical art that accompanied the covers so far. Since that mail, for a few months they were talking about how the image should illustrate Shedneryan. Eve has created many sketches and notes for analysis and in order to get a unique piece to accompany the music perfectly.
After some debates a full understanding appeared between them, and Eve could begin her artistic work. It took her several months. The cover is full of details and symbolism. The picture shows the box Shedneryan in a fantasy world where Roger will lead us through his music. There is an ear-shaped opening symbolizing the hearing. By the ear we can enter into that magical world. Outside is the reality. That is one of the differences from the last two covers, for Point of no return and The dark symphony, where it was the unreality which sensed in the other side. Some fine threads carry the musical vibrations from the case to this fantastic world trying to give a musical shape to it and to all the characters and creatures inside of it. The atmosphere surrounding the box is very ambiguous. It can be water or sky. Depends on the moment and the situation in the history. As happens with the clouds and imagined shapes in them, if we look at the contour of the mountains, we can see a face perhaps enigmatic, dark. A menacing entity.
