Not my taste, BUT...

"Brit Pop" is a genre that I usually think should have had a rhyming name referring to excrement. Given that is how my tastes run, for me to be reviewing this group is slightly unfair on them. Although their description states, "The line-up and musical style of The Womb constantly changes", this album seems to me at least mostly reminiscent of Brit Pop. Its founding member is from England originally. The Womb hail from Melbourne, a place that is special to me, so I had to give them a listen and now, a review. While I haven't given them many stars, I suspect others will. These tracks are well-produced and have a unique edginess that will be sure to appeal to many listeners. Despite my overall indifference, two tracks really did grab me and after only a few listens are already set to stand among some of the favourite in my music collection. They are the tracks "Five Years" and "If Destroyed, Still True." I suspect these tracks are the point in the album another reviewer described, a little disappointedly, as "slowing down" - but for me they are the stand-out moments of this compilation. The lesson in that is that the appeal of this group to your tastes can't be judged by listening to one or two tracks. Reserve your judgment and listen to a range of their work. You might find something you love.
