It took a year and a half to inspire two songs. I have been through countless scrapped tracks that simply didn't feel organic enough. Both tracks were inspired by themes of growing into maturity, and realizing what is really important. One track took about a month to finish, the other practically wrote itself in a single day. I was working on a third, but I feel like these two tracks compliment each other too well to add a third wheel (it's an incredibly coincidence that they are both the exact same length).

I feel like it's time to begin adding words to explain these songs. I tried to add lyrics, but I'm a dreadful lyricist. If I ever go down that path, it won't be alone. Looking to the future for that...

The Melancholy of the Chrononaut

/

Life is about your own unique experience. The chrononaut finds himself unrestricted to his own experience, what is left for him once he has seen it all? Musically, I wanted to return to a more cohesive structure with this track. The tone doesn't shift quite as wildly as my previous tracks have done. On top of this, I found that tempos were getting a bit high, and straying away from the entire purpose of this project. I wanted this one to be noticably slow paced. I think I achieved my goal quite well in atmosphere as well as prophecy.

/

I particularly love the way the soft mid-section turned out. I really wanted to do something with the drums similar to the slow section of Rush' "Limelight". For the rest of the track, I listened to lots of Electric Wizard to learn just how doom drums should sound.

What has become of this world while i slept?

/

One day you wake up, and you are very much than you want to believe. You are in panic when you realize what is actually going on around you. It starts adventurous, shifts to serene, and finally realizes chaos. This track was heavily inspired - in theme - by "Time" by Pink Floyd.
