There appears to be a change coming, and I am undecided if I'm liking it or niot. The choice of instruments is fine. The use of the alto sax in the 1rst & 4th song I did like. It's in "Far" that I have issues. Crecendos are meant to build to another elemet of the song, but usually in 4 measures, not in a minute and half! Once the peak was realized then it became a cacophny of synth laden work. If experimenting, Creix, keep trying...
"I thought your love was here to stay, please don't go away, don't go away" over and over for 5 minutes, with brief switches in the bassline is wayyyyyyyy too repetitive...
Sorry, did not catch my ear...
"Marche Encore" begins this 6 song CD to a heavy groove beginning; tight bass line, wailing saxophone and a smattering of muted trumpets, giving it a jazzy feel.
"Move" continues with that tight bass line and steady beats of the drum, with stereoized guitar plucking and lush synthesizer filling in, combining to give an aural experience. The brass and sax's step up and add to the melody.
"Potrait" combines a subtle rock/jazz influenced melody. The brass instruments fill in the background, the ever present ominous bass keeps the selection moving and grooving.
"Transformation" leans heavily towards a jazz horn section, again with a steady bass line that keeps it all interesting as the melody swings around and around.
"Out Of Breath" begins with an Ottmar Liebert style, and steps right up to a near Robert Fripp eclectic style of guitar workmanship. Sustains kept it all from getting monotonous...
"Up And Down" is the shortest piece, but seems to be an amalgamation of instruments and styles. Sax, guitar, wind chimes, Glockenspiel - all interwoven to make a fabric that is amazing. This is my favorite piece, next to Marche Encore.
Well done my friend, very well done!!
The bass line begins, and lush strings fill in and the melody starts to take off "Looking At The Sky." As I sat here listening to this my imagination took me to a lounge dance floor, I and my lady moving and swaying to the beat. Mmmm, mmmm....mmmm...*sigh*
Now, that being said, I could only find one fault, which may be easy to correct. The percussion seems too bright. It's as if the drums were recorded in a seperate track, and all the rest put on to another. There's a smoothness to the bass, the violins and keyboard; but the drums seem out of place...
No matter, I'm still groovin' with my lady...
"Summer Of `49" has an eerie presence within the measures. I'd put this up there with "Whiskey Lullaby" or "He Stopped Loving Her Today." Each tells of a love or life that has went to a place that is very, very dark. I see a video of this song, and the final lyrics "There's a knock on his door, there's a knock on his door, there's a knock on his door...." cutting to the guy sitting petrified to see who might be there, a cut to him peeping out from behind a drawn curtain, or a cut of an ethereal door appearing before him...
My thanks to Jon & Necessary Road for sharing this with us on Jamendo!
"A Mile In Our Shoes" says it all - the politicos are so quick to send our guys off to war, but most haven't a clue what it's like to do such.
There are a few, like McCain and Kerry that know the military machine, but many that do not. This is a song for those that not benefited from that experience...
Just in time for "Valentine"'s Day, Tanya shares a sensual song that may give the ladies a chance to watch their guys squirm! Agreed, it is very blatant in its message, but....so what? It's good!
Once again, thanks for sharing with us on Jamendo...
One thing you don't do is give a New Yorker grief about their teams - Giants, Mets, Yankees, doesn't matter...they are loyal! These two songs are refreshing, as the beats have jumped, and the vocals are reaching new heights! Atta girl T6! Especially enjoyed "Get It Off!"
T6 has given us another great set of tunes! Well instrumented and the alluring voice...oh yes. Therein lies the problem. Each song has a different sound, but the vocals remain in the same area, and to listen repeatedly would grow wearisome. Stretch those vocal cords to a higher, or lower range to show some ability! Even Mariah Carey with her 5 octave range, didn't keep using them with each and every song. Pick up a beat, drop or raise a half step and push a limit! Dare to be unique! Again, thanks for sharing with us on Jamendo!
Tanya AKA T6, gives her own unique spin to holiday traditionals. The earthy whisper singing seems a tad out of place for a couple of the tunes, but, that's artistic license! As this is the first review of her works I will say I am impressed. Once again, another diamond surfaces here on Jamendo! Thank you so much for sharing with us here on Jamendo!
