Good god, here we hear some real damn good musicians. I, as a bassist, particularily enjoyed the groovy and fast bass lines, all embedded in an high quality funky music.
What prevented me to give it a 9 or 10 is the fact that there are only 3 songs. Would have loved 10 of them.
The songs are very nice, composition is sweet, but it's a shame that the guitar is the only real instrument, all others are just midi. So they sound kinda lame compared to the sweet vocals and funky guitar.
It would be really nice to hear this played by a full band, especially live I think.
Bravo !
Allright, this is in no way a serious album. I read on their myspace page that it's just recordings of some jam session. It sounds like it indeed. Amateurish sound, minimalist composition (never more than one instrument + drums at the same time). But, however, it's such a mess in the composition that I am just forced to think : "It really may be great when they'll care enough to finish and produce a real album".
I believe these guys want to make "The madcap laugh" sounds like Syd Barrett was a catholic priest against drugs...
I'd like to hear what you'll achieve in the next two years.
