With heartfelt crusty vocals reminiscent of Captain Beefheart, and always engaging musical accompaniment, BGVO captures the exciting spirit of experimentation, rebellion and freedom as they felt it having wound up in Boston
in the 80`s
the work rolls into full gear with the 3rd track and stump the trooper finshes things off with a bang.
it finding stuff like this that makes Jamendo such an amazing venue!
Good songs, very well composed, and sung from the heart.
Some of the instrumentation is not exactly to my taste, but
this artist definitely has talent and should be listened to.
Dont stop at the first track.
I like this short offering. It reminds me of some bands that i really like,
but has a sound of its own.I think that the artist should try to achieve more
tension, stress or passion at some points in the album, as there is little dynamic variation and no deep impact moment(especially vocally).
Enjoyable and worth checking out.
I like some of the vocals alot. There are moments of passion
intensity and beauty. Some points in the album bring everything together.
I enjoyed listening and hope to hear more from this group.
First thinking that this would be a solo piano collection, with the haunting
opening motifs but then the piece burst into a full range of orchestral
sounds. its like a trip through western musical history and a musical world tour.
It is really well done. and though this is not excatly my cup of tea,
I think that it a great sound track.
A very impressive and surprising find on Jamendo.
The first track is interesting with a tribal type of rhythm working with
an Indian -like chiming or droning. An interesting experiment.
Morens 2 I found to be quite intense and exciting.
However I find some of the percussive sounds to be TOO artificial
or should I say lacking in color. I hope you can work more on the quality of that sound. Otherwise KEEP ON EXPLORING!
Beautifully played and sung with interesting harmony. Well-arranged with wide use of different instruments. Many good ideas(not only musical). Though sometimes this band could be mistaken for Radiohead or Coldplay, I must say that I prefer these guys.
Listen to it in the dark and let your imagination carry you away!
Ive been captivated for the past few days by the sound world created by Kostas
Vomvolos on his recordings which he has graciously put on Jamendo. There is a wealth of feeling a gold mine of musical sources and all presented so tastfully. The musicianship and recorded sound are also top quality!
Though the recording is done directly from the instruments,
the energy and excitement of a Live performance can be felt.
It sounds like it was a great night. Wish I could have been there.
The cover indicates a video screen, and Im curious to know what images were created.
The only problem with this album for me is that it is short,MUCH
too short!
