Album description

de This text is not available in your chosen language, we are displaying it in its original language.
Botany Bay are a Germany based alternative pop project, consisting mainly of Stephan Kleinert (instruments, programming) and Laura Dietrich (lead vocals, keyboards), playing an organic mixture of world music, experimental pop and rock, augmented with classical arrangements and free-form improvisation.

In October 2007, Laura and Stephan released their current album "Grounded", which they recorded in a period of over four years and with the help of numerous guest musicians. Although "Grounded" doesn't tell a continuous story, it is a concept album in the sense that all tracks are connected to each other thematically and/or musically.

"Grounded" is released under a creative commons license.

Truly beautiful! The album had an unique way of blending songs: using the tail end of the last track and injecting into the beginning of the next throughout. The voices were good (folksy and sweet) the male voice was strong. The powerful instrumental music ran alongside the voices without overpowering. Most of the songs had interesting mixes of sounds and instruments from jazz to Irish from rock to folk and then some. Very constructive flow between the different sounds and instruments and words in each song, like poetry creating vivid mental images.
This album is well worth listening to for the story which in my opinion was that life is a fractured fairy tale but much worth living. I related this album to a good book with many twists, turns and surprises.
All in all this was an excellent album and I will listen to it often to catch more of its nuances. I especially loved #12 for the heaviness of the instrumentality and the great voice and #14 where my notes say that it had great poetry, powerful music and I loved the story because I could relate and #15 got three stars out of three. I also wrote in my notes that I thought the songs got progressively better throughout the album. Next time I listen I will just enjoy the great music without taking notes! Good Job Botany Bay...

This album is a mixture of hauntingly beautiful instrumental and vocal tracks. Elements of many musical styles are present but I would loosely class it as world folk.

I would like to encourage everyone to visit the artists web site. The biography makes interesting reading. I'm amazed this album ever saw the light of day considering the rocky road it has traveled.

This is some excellent music. An intriguing and beguiling mixture of vintage and modern instrumental sounds, the vocals are beautifully done. Very easy on the ear.

If you're only listening for quick-hit pop that's maybe 2.5 min long, it would be easy to miss this album. They take a little time to build atmosphere with a few of the songs, so I'd advise listening the album through rather than track-hopping on the first playthrough.

I swear I heard that voice somewhere before, she has such sweetness in it and the songs are well arranged with great heart felt tunes, I liked that slightly Gothic touch in moon child
