Instrumental guitar rock tends to fall into two categories - you're either an eccentric genius like Steve Vai or a more substantial player like Satriani. Carlos Saura seems to be closer to the latter, but on the edge of creating a niche of his own.

His proficiency on the guitar is really commendable, but even moreso is the songwriting. Instrumental guitar albums tend to get a bit difficult if they go on too long - however, 21 minutes of high quality and consistent songwriting makes listing a pleasure. Only 2 of the albums 4 tracks are fret-shredding rock, the other two show Carlos' skill in stripping down the sound and laying down some guitar played from the heart, rather than the textbook.

In a word - bravo!

Carlos, the songs on this album could have be forgotten tracks of Satch's (Joe Satriani) Crystal Planet! The guitar sounds really spacey, nice harmonies, with a wah-wah that add sound nuances where it improves the song, without over-doing or cluttering.
Only a slight comment: the percussion as a bit too much of the same (sounds too much as a drum computer, without breaks, rolls or whatever).

I REALLY liked "La rebelion de las maquinas", (machines' rebellion), some kind of apocaliptic-retro-videoclip of dancer robots starts then playing into my head, ("Metropolis" film style). Thank you for your music

Very nice instrumental music

a fragile distant melody...

This could well be Satch moonlighting under an alias! Excellent tracks, perfect for the car and well produced. Interesting percussion on the Desert of Colours, will take a bit of getting used to, but works well. The Rebellion of the Machines is straight from Flying in a Blue Dream, which should be taken as a big compliment.
A small comment is that the drums do seem a bit repetative, as mentioned before, but otherwise a great listen!:cool::cool:
