really nice work here. production values are high and songwriting/playing is extremely competent. not something you necessarily hear on here all that often. there were a few parts here and there on here that stuck out at me. in my opinion, some of the vocals were not up to the standard that had been set with the music itself, and personally i would have liked to have heard more vocals in some parts as well. to me, they really seemed like an after-thought, and to hold that against this seems kind of petty, but hey, i guess THAT MAKES ME A PETTY PERSON THEN. i kid.
anyway, it's not totally prog, and it's not really just straight up metal. there are even some modern hardcore touches in there (don't let that scare you off) and some nice melodic bits. it's modern, but it definitely doesn't forget its roots.
if you're into shit like between the buried and me, sikth, iron maiden, dream theater, (i could go on all day), this is definitely one worth checking out.
