Tracks 1-5 are simply awful. Singer is out of tune from time to time, her manner of singing is ugly, she's short of technique, her voice is very weak, so the result is very dull and emotionless.
Adding insult to injury, the accompaniment is not much better. Melodic lines are very simple and dull - completely uncreative. Further, synthetic sounds played on a keyboard are very artificial, unnatural and ugly. This must be a very cheap toy keyboard or the artist cannot use it properly to create natural sounds. Even "piano" doesn't sound like a real piano. Finally, recording is very amateurish - the tunes sound as if the artists were trapped inside a cardboard box while a microphone was outside, recording this whole mess.
Any pros?
- Correct lyrics. Nothing special here, but far better than the music.
- Track 6 "Wojna domowa". It's cabaret music and the singer is deliberately out of tune here and sings with ugly agressive voice (or al least we can assume it's done on purpose). Also, the artists manage to play with emotion and feeling on this one track. Unfortunately, the singer tries to imitate here the manner of singing of a famous Polish singer/songwriter Renata Przemyk (with a quite good result, I must say - Ms. Przemyk is great but quality of voice is not her strong point). So the result is complete lack of originality.
- Track 7 "Mysli". Worse than no. 6, but better than the previous ones. Slightly more interesting way of singing, slightly better melodic line, traces of emotion in voice, slightly better accompaniment - a more interesting melody, the piano sounds like a real piano. Oh, and the artists left their cardboard box during the recording session. ;-)
To sum up - if the tracks are in a chronological order and last two are created and recorded much later than the others, we can wait for the next album and see - maybe the ears won't hurt as they hurt now.
But until then - stay away from Futuro!
Oh, and one more thing. I'm pondering over the enthusiastic reviews of this album. This seems to be the final proof that the majority of human beings are completely deaf. "Lovely voice", "voix claire", "jolie voix", "voice is lovely" - now I know why Mrs. Spears is called an artist nowadays...
