I was in the cellar, when I saw a Mini Disc box (remember, this was BEFORE mp3 players!...).
When listening, I just realized that was not that bad.
Are you ready to forgive me hesitations & wrong notes ?
Since I record demos, I only knew 4 tracks cassette recorders, and... this system I will try to describe:
Year 2000. I work in Dublin, but computers are still quiet expensive for my little familly.
So I found 2 good deals:
Firts a PIONNER CD recorder, which needs a special audio CD RW. At that it was the very beguining.
secondly, an affordable SONY MD recorder.
I started having some kind of an idea, in my sick mind: RE-recording music in "numeric" quality!
Of course, no sequencer! Only an old TECHNICS KN500, an expender MU50 Yamaha ( with a jack audio-through !! great idea..)
And a headset.
Then all goes fast: I press "record" on MD, I play whatever comes.
Once the first "track" is recorded on MD, I plug it through the MU50, press "PLAY", and add other accompaniements onto the PIONNER CD recorder.
This gave the second "track".
Etc...
It was possible to make 5 or 6 re-recording that way, without too much noise.
All you can hear in that collection "Kilometric Overdub" have been recorded that way.
Exept "Automat", one of my first piece with CUBASE.
But for the moment, I no longer have computer, my keyboard is in the cellar, and even if I miss a lot playing music, I have no time.
"Gibraltar" was first player in 1986, with a Roland JUPITER IV.
So, all is said.
If i ever add a new album in JAMENDO, this will mean I have Hardware again, stable life and overall TIME !
Enjoy if you want.
