Album description

This is the official etSitara album, released as MT013 on www.musictrade.info

Musictrade info:
"Here comes the first full length Musictrade release from the Dutch experimental electronica artist and sound architect KraftiM. Modern western electronic sounds meet the serenity eastern instrumentalism on this album - think of a raga in a spaceship. From his first released tracks KraftiM has had a unique sound and a unique emotional atmosphere to his works, and this album is no exception. KraftiM is a musical travel agency specialized in surprise destinations. "

Contributing artists:

Krita Yuga (Japan) sitar on tracks 1, 4 till 11;

KIGAS (Japan) violin on tracks 2,3 and4;     Geechi (USA) vocals on track 3.

Sleeve design: Doc

etSitara features the tracks from the previously minialbum etSitara released here on Jamendo. This minialbum is removed to avoid double releases. Now this etSitara is KraftiM's fully "japanese" album, due to the contributions of the japanese artists KIGAS and Krita Yuga. A new long version of mRat is released, as well as Hamagito and Solyuga who are added to complete this oriental trip. Have fun...

Note:

a 24bit/44.1kHz audiophile version of this album is available on

Dreamy and Hypnotic!....just wonderful!

When I opened to this album and let it flow through me, then I felt strong emotional expression. A fusion of dark and light, cold and warm, traped and free sincere emotions. A lot of good work done! Thank you for sharing your music!

Very nice, indeed. I love the way you bring the purely electronic pieces to their climax, with a minimalistic point of view (if I'm not mistaken). Since I'm a big fan of oriental music and instruments, I'm biased when I say "nice work there with the sitar".

Is there a general theory behind this album or you consider it a collection of kinda atmospheric tracks?

Solyuga floats into view of your ears and mind instantly cloaking you with its combinatory effect. Lovely variation and strangely compatible structures within these intertwining layers of musical existence.

mRat starts rhythmically with a few sources and slowly adds the melody, slightly melancholy. There is variation in the source of the rhythm that builds nicely and is eventually backed up by a bass noise. Once this is in place there's more variation on the rhythm, nice gear-changing. Then all scores settle into one wholesome track again. Suddenly, the rhythm changes drastically leaving you in desolation, but it fights its way back, ebbing and flowing. Now, there's a new sound on the block, part rhythmic, part melody dubwise. Then everything drifts in and out of your mind. Brilliant track.

Hamagito starts with a seductive vocal sample, and supports it with a classical background. Piano makes itself heard and what seems to be a moment of some confusion, is a clever little combination of the various levels of sound. It's almost like it shouldn't work, but it does very well.

StaRiverSun sounds like floating in the 'sea' of space, not under water but outer water. The sitar earths you and also contributes curiously well with the larger element. We are treated again to another apposite melody. Then the focus falls on the sitar for a while as the melody returns to join the unusual trio. Which is when an extra sense of rhythm is added!-) Good timing for the music. That fourth aspect predominates at the end with added spaciousness.

kRaga Intro brings us into a series of tracks and sets us up for a busy time perhaps, sounds like a marketplace.
kRaga1 is lead by the sitar with undercurrents of melody and a very loose sense of structure.
kRaga2 again predominated at the start with sitar and a lighter sense of percussiveness. Another rhythmic melody pops up and promptly disappears to finish with a combined ending.
kRaga3 starts with background, a strange warbling noise that gains in spaciousness. Then the sitar slowly emerges from the apparent chaos, very calmly and almost sensuously. The background foreground ??? changes here and there, it seems to almost be in antithesis.
kRaga4 is firing on all cylinders from the start, much more lively. Classical KraftiM, beautiful sitar and nice drums. Nice mix. Quite hypnotic in places. Snake-charming (I'm a Chinese Snake):)-<
kRaga5 is midrange and sitar to start, quite airy and light. Almost sounds like the very devil himself fiddling away in there, at times, as the intensity builds to the end.
kRaga Outro is much deeper and definite than the intro, like something that needed sorting out has been achieved. It has! An unusual blend of musical genres that works exceedingly well.

This was actually quite difficult for me to review and could only have been worsted by the sitar being a didgeridoo. As instruments I dislike them fairly intensely, whereas I love keyboards and percussion. Each to his own, and regardless of my personal likes and dislikes this is some seriously good, very interesting and challenging fusion.

Well done my friend(s)!

Off-beat and ominous ethnic ambient. On my first listen I got no strong feelings for the release one way or another. On additional listens I began to appreciate the truly ambientic effect of it, and my mind began to wander appropriately. Some images of foreign lands, perhaps, and night. If there was one thing that broke the illusion once in a while it was the more obviously electronic effects that come up at a couple of places.

The third song (as I've seen others note) does not fully fit to the release, but it is not a bad song on its own. If this release's style allowed for more experimentation and genre-shifting, it would be appropriate, but as is, it's just something slightly skewy amidst the solidary beauty of the more subdued tracks.

I'm slowly working my way though KraftiM; you have to because he creates extremely absorbing pieces that must be given full attention.

It is more that they take your complete attention - ambiance like this is not ambient background but full mental absorption :)

Da Vinci code and KraftiM code both are very confusing and difficult to crack. But today I am feeling proud that atleast I have cracked The KraftiM CODE!! Very strange compositions made by KraftiM. The combination of electronics and sitar creates a weird sort of output. But kudos to everyone behind this album as they have crafted a very nice album with 'typical' KraftiM music.

The poster is the real drawback as it contains serious spelling mistakes.

Great ethno-ambient. Would be perfect if not for the track 3 "Hamagito", which is an older work of KraftiM - based on annoying speeches and not a particularly good tune.

However, the rest is GREAT and I encourage you to check it out - of course only if you're a fan of intelligent atmospheric electronic music.

Oh, and one more thing. Is it Mr. Rat on a cover? He was a very cute rodent.
