The name of the band fits quite nicely: Not top caliber, but certainly passable, even above average in some respects. I'll evaluate them on the three genres the album is tagged with.
As a pop band they probably fair best, but the melodies are never quite polished or catchy enough.
As a punk band, the record has a brisk feel to it, and they do kick up the tempo in spots, but there is never really the energy or drive to match the high-speed with brute force.
Likewise, for a "rock" record, there really is no point where they actually get around to rocking significantly.
A solid effort all-around. The record is listenable from start to finish, but while it shows promise in parts, it never quite reaches the point of being very good. Every time I though to myself "Hey, they're really going to go for it here" I was dissapointed.
I'd say the strongest track is probably "The Shapeless Boy", but even that one falls a bit flat in the middle. It has nice parts, and shows promise but it never quite builds to what it should. Which pretty much sums up the album itself.
