Album description

The last album released by North Georgia Folk musician Rakee Karr before his untimely death on stage in Valdosta, GA Oct 2004. A big hit in the Nashville underground, ‘Country Gold’ is just what the name implies: well-crafted country songs by one of the most promising folk musician of our times, one who was lost too early. Contains all-time favorites like “Mary Lou“, “She Don’t Call Me Baby ‘Till She Cries“, the post-modern cut-up “Sunshine Revisited“, and the biting social satire “Land Here of the Free“.

"Le dernier album sorti par le musicien folk de Géorgie du Nord Rakee
Karr avant sa mort intemporelle sur scène en Octobre 2004 à Valdosta.
Grand succès dans l'underground de Nashville, “Country Gold“ est bien ce
que le nom implique : des chansons country bien ouvragées par un des
musiciens folk les plus prometteurs de son temps, quelqu'un qui parti
trop tôt. Contient certains tubes comme “Mary Lou“, “She Don’t Call Me
Baby 'Till She Cries“, le cut-up post-modern “Sunshine Revisited“, et la
satire sociale acide “Land Here of the Free“."

This album has a really good old country feel to it. It's really nice to find music like this that speaks to people. His voice reminds me of Steve Earl's; it has a nice twang to it.

I really enjoyed listen to this album, because it is more traditional country than I originally thought it was going to be.

I dunno, he wasn't a great singer by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoy his guitar playing and lyrics. These days, you have to be grateful for any music that connects directly to you, the listener, without layers of electronics or deliberate vagueness. This music certainly does that, and I enjoyed the listen.

Served straight up, no fluff, vocal and a six string, a true simplified one man band! One incredible album. Love This! Very sadden to find out about the artist's untimely death. But very happen to have found his outstanding music.

This collection of classic folk-style songs with a modern sensibility works pretty well for me. Having listened to some Guthrie and Seeger over the last couple months, I was happy to hear the original songs, as well as the reworked classics. I particularly like "Sunshine Revisited" and "Mary Lou."

I'm from India and I've been listening mostly to Rock music from the west. Lately I've found myself enjoying Country songs more. I'm still new to the genre but I love these songs. The man has a great voice and I love the lyrics!!!! Kudos....
