Kadavreski [2005]

The concept of this album - or at least the concept of the first track "Kadavreski" - came from the idea to create a musical "Cadavre Exquis" ("Exquisite Corpse") which is a technique created by the Surrealists to exploit the accidents and the collages in Art. The word "Kadavreski" is a neologism, basically the contraction of the two French words "cadavre" and "exquis".

The technique - which started as a game - works from the result obtained by the collaboration of several artists on the same work, each of them adding a new element, sometimes without knowing what the previous people have done. This way of creating gave birth to some very interesting poetries and paintings characterizing what has been called : "The unconscious reality of the personality of the group".

The music and the lyrics of the song "Kadavreski" have been created this way. Every Anthemon bandmember wrote a few minutes of music, starting from the last minute done by another member and going on the way he wanted. The result is a 23 minutes song built in 5 parts written and composed without knowing how the finished song would sound like. The result is a totally free Metal song which moves all the time and approaches a lot of different genres.

The other songs have been written in a more conventional way. That doesn't mean they are conventional, though.

"Kadavreski" has the particularity to deal with 5 totally different topics in a single text but it seems that the "Cadavre Exquis" we have done works well. Actually one may find a sense to the whole thing. At least we do.

"Print Of The Sand Glass" deals with the notions of time and memory. People are living and dying, leaving traces behind them : sometimes simply a name and a date, sometimes a masterpiece of litterature, cinema or whatever.

"All Is Cyclical" deals with the cyclical nature of things ; Everyone knows how seasons are passing by then come back the next year, how night and day turn over, how life's an endless circle...

"Weight Of The Feather" is an adaptation of a piece of Egyptian mythology. Dead people always got their soul weighed. If their soul was lighter than a feather they could go to "heaven". But if it was heavier...
