Album description

The Brighter Side of Terror is an album of alternate mixes of songs written and preformed by Disappearance of Anna, released May 1, 2008 on Jamendo. It is a good mix of dark techno and poppy industrial sound, much like Nine Inch nails, Gravity Kills or Front 242.

“Jacob's Reprise,” “collectively silent (boxing robots mix and rocker stocker mix),” “seen not said,” and “letch (serpent's apple mix)” are all songs from their first EP, “the Missing.” “Jacob's Reprise” is a re-mix of “Jacob's Hope, the first song from the EP. The other songs are new recordings, re-mixed from the final version, yet to be released. “Last in line (detox mix),” “running away from (zombies mix and murder mix),” “in the garden of my mind (everything goes black mix),” and “stars are out (wet grass mix)” are all new songs, remixed from the final unreleased versions of the songs. “the files gather around the mouth” is a remix of “last in line.” alone in the dark” is a remix of “collectively silent.” “The inside (muddy puddles mix,” and “war (ogre's mix)” are new tracks recored specifically for this album.

This is the first official release from the band two years after Jason Curtiss left. Curtiss wrote the original lyrics for “last in line,” “collectively silent” and “Jacob's Hope” (“Jacob's Reprise”). David Logan rewrote/reorganized some of the lyrics for “last in line” and “collectively silent.” Joey Payton and David Logan both did some re-organization of Jacob's Hope, however they lyrics found on Jacob's Reprise were written solely by Jason Curtiss. Curtiss also plays the bass in Jacob's Reprise. Curtiss wrote the original bass for “collectively silent,” and “letch” but the bass was re-written by David Logan and David Williams after Curtiss left the band.

All other lyrics were written by David Logan and all other music was written and preformed by David Logan and David Williams. All vocals are by David Logan, with additional vocals on “the flies gather around the mouth” by Kristine Ferriman. “running aways from (zombie mix)” was mixed by Rich Ratvaski. “Letch (serpent's apple mix) was remixed by David Williams. All other mixing was done by the Mourn. Art for this album was also created by the Mourn. Recording was done at Kill the Puppy Records in Columbus, Ohio.

compotiton is great, clean and had no miss in any second. i like all the melody. So dark. My fav is a last in line. Make me feel the emotion on this album. Drum is so variative but still focus, i know thats need a lot of experience to make drum beat like this! great.

but i think is my personal taste, this opinion will be wrong for other listener. i think its will better, if guitar or drum sound got more distorted and noissy. dont care about it, you re great musician!

Thanks

I downloaded this album awhile ago, and I really like it. It is a dark melodic mix of in-your-face rock, dark techno with some soft stuff mixed in. The first song is not the best choice, so start with the second or "war", that is a good one. The lyrics are all dark, but good. "running away from" is another good one. Great opening line!
