Description

The debut from Andrew Pettit's project, "Escape Velocity", borrows much from his solid EP. The full length album takes no rest before it dives into intense danceable but harsh music. It starts with "Lightning", a refreshed tune from the EP, and dives into a new track, "Dear Hitler, Churchill Hates You", and upbeat, danceable, but equally serious work. Great arpeggio construction, as well as a solid foundation makes this one of the strongest tracks on the album. Next comes the dark dance tune, "Love Hertz" which moves into the awkwardly named "Error, Error, My Computer's A Terror". This track has some dark synth lines and more of Andrew's solid rhythmic patternwork. Next up is the mellow Windfall, which slides along into the next track, Coexist, another refreshed tune. This time around it comes with more bass end that brings the song to life. Next is the experimental "Portal", made entirely of percussive elements, with just a hint of synthesizer thrown in for good measure. This song pushes Andrew's skill as a rhythmic engineer, but it also shows his aptitude for music. Finally, the album comes to a solid, and sad close, with "(You May) Fire When Ready", a harsh, uptempo, dark song, that harkens to something a little darker.

Andrew's work doesn't dissapoint, and with these 8 tracks, Escape Velocity is a solid debut for his portfolio.

If you liked Love Hertz you'll definitely like Escape Velocity. I personally like Portal a lot it had a nice steady beat to it. I felt like moving while listening, so be prepared. I'm definitely looking forward to some new material from ElectroSynthesis.
