Angels starts off big and deep, resounding drums and percussion. Then, the angels begin to appear followed my a simple melody. Are those Enochian lyrics? It ends with the sweep of huge wings. Generate Power, starts low-key almost, nice sounds. Personally, I think the vocals spoil it, but like I said that's personal. It continues with a common structure and musical notes that are sufficient in themselves. Then there is Journey. Deep resonant chords with the beginnings of a melody lain over the top. The bass line conveys the sensation of movement, which is appropriate. Nice electro track, with just a hint of darkness. About midway the percussion kicks in and the track continues, almost minimalistically, or should that be mystical journey? It's quite a haunting track. New Recessional, being a 'recessional' might have been more appropriately placed at the end of the album, the album then being the 'service'. I've spent time in a monastery, it was a good experience for me. The track starts and pays some lip-service to the service so to speak, then the rhythm kicks in with melody and makes quite a laid-back, almost peaceful track. Stratos begins with soaring sounds and the tinkling of wind-chimes, conveying the sense of air, and the experiment succeeds well. Calming melody comes in about 2 minutes into the track, to accentuate the now background 'air'. Halfway through and a beat appears, implying movement. Ends and straight into the first reprise into Journey. An altogether lovely track, again quite mellow and mobile at the same time, almost a soundtrack. Then, return to New Recessional, this time its sound is darker and seems well-constructed straight away. Is this a personal pilgrimage? This time the use of voice-over works well and is more suited to the apparent essence of the piece. Stratos joins us again, in a more epic form. Instantly, the extent of the stratosphere is more apparent, darker because of its essential desolation (I would imagine). However, the mood alters as the track develops with its expansive structure. It's nice and calming, positive with its' angelic melodies. SZ again it is quite dark to begin with, but lightens with voice and layers of melody. There is still that feeling about being higher than terra firma, with religious undercurrents. Another nice little experiment with sound and emotion. Unrested has a lovely sound to it, I love the burbling beat, and is that an angelic choir again!-) There seems to be something of a personal crusade amongst all this music and Unrested appears to be indicative of my hypothesis, the eternal quest for absolution. Quarter pounds out like a battle cry of angels. Finally, I'm The Sun. Nice start to a good track and a sense of having reached the apotheosis of the ultimate journey through the stratosphere. The Sun represents The Father, in other words Godhead. Very enjoyable altogether speaking.
