I could actually, picture this band, in a top 20 Indie chart, as they are that good. Really enjoyed the tracks, the music, the vocals and interesting, catchy lyrics.
First off, I would like to say that if I heard 'No One Comes (close to you)' on the radio in the top 10 I wouldnt be shocked. It wouldnt be my favourite song, but without a doubt it sounds like potential chart material. It has a hook that had the song in my head all day.
The other thing I found impressive was that I often only like music after hearing the songs at least 3 times, but right away I knew No One Comes (close to you) was good enough for my playlist, and potentially putting the others in!
The album quality isn't bad, but may potentially take away from the music, though this wouldnt lose you marks on here... but I think with a professionally recorded album there is a chance it could do really well.
I like the quite peaceful style rock music, I think it suits you well.
This is a band I will keep an eye on in future.
- as I was writing this, I added track 1 to my playlist too.
i was looking for a couple of songs for my mp3 when i found a page about the sway reforming. that sounded cool so i went to the music page and was surprised what i found. Going blind is a great little pop song with robert smith or bono on vocals. great beat and pace to the song , could easy be a hit today. the death of venus was another good song but this time it is dark and moody with a powerful bass line . the song has alot of space in it, something the verve do very well. the sway sound a bit like the cure/u2/the verve. i would love to see this band live , it would be a great night out i am sure.
They have elaborate melodies, they play well, but ... But their songs do not keep my ears prisoners. Their music lacks spirit or guts, whatever the name, this something that makes me remember the melody. Their tunes just won't stay in my head.
I gave this album a 5 stars rating -- and not a 4 -- just because the first track "Going blind", I think, could be close to making a hit again with its high pitched guitar keys. It has a real, solid melody, one I can remember. The intro of this track, especially, shows what the The Sway *could* have written and played.
But again, it remains a little too elaborate for my ears. Just my two cents.
To put it in one sentence : "Going blind" is the only track by The Sway I will download from Jamendo.
