IRRE anstatt ANSTALT

Das 8-te Arne Pahlke Album

(erstmals herausgegeben Ende Februar 2008)

Da ich selbst ein großer Freund von jenen Alben bin, auf denen lyrische/prosaische Ergüsse mit Musik/Tönen/Klängen vermengt werden – dachte ich mir kurzerhand – das versuchst du jetzt auch!

Denn schließlich bin ich vor allem einer dieser nicht ganz dichten Dichtergesellen – ein Prosaeunuch!

Und das Ergebnis ist ein Mottoalbum – ein Ausflug in die Niederungen meiner/unserer (geschändeten) Seele – und der immer wiederkehrenden Frage: wie verrückt ist die Normalität und wie normal ist der Wahnsinn?

Gewiss kein leichtverdauliches Album - und überdies eines, das hauptsächlich von seinen Texten lebt, die nicht fürs nebenbei hören geschrieben sind.

Viele Botschaften erschließen sich wahrscheinlich sogar nicht direkt sondern erst beim wiederholten Hören.

Das Album gewährt (auch) Einblicke in meine eigene „kranke“ Seele – vor allem aber ist „Irre anstatt Anstalt“ eine Expedition ins weltgrößte Irrenahaus und geht somit jedem an – handelt es doch von uns allen!

Good album

As mentioned in another review to this album, I also do not understand German, but listening to this album you feel it makes a lot of sense: spoken word, ambient, jazz... But also much more.

For those of us with the language issue, the immediate reference is Einstuerzende Neubauten, although Arne Pahlke does not restrict himself to an eventual mimic of Blixa Bargeld's projects.

Be it as it may, it makes you listen all the way through. I especially recommend the jazzy "Warnhinweis".

Makes you (the non-German speaker) wonder: who is Arne Pahlke? Are we missing out on something?

Although I don't speak in german (and in english:)), I think most of all this album I understand. Commanding presence and deep empathy in music and text. It sounds you make everything at the same time - but it's impossible!
And at least: read Vonnegut, he is the best afium!
