012539 was cool, short but cool. Auto-Destructuration starts with a harsh beat that burbles along quite nicely despite the French lyric. I'm not big on lyrics at the moment. The background track is OK though, I would have been happy with that. Already it's showing signs of being able to be diverse within the track and quite complex, almost chaotic at times, and if I listen to the voice as another instrument there are, I have to admit, good moments nonetheless. Sommeil Agite starts well, I like it. A curious sliding sound amongst other good sounds, and the voice is fairly tolerable and sometimes fits in well. Lâme Immortelle do this kind of stuff and I love some of their work. Ce que tu ne sais pas, et ce que tu crois savoir: Lovely industrialism, nice combination of sounds and structure (best so far!-) Reliques has a manic birth and brief existence, nice and dark. Followed by Antidote, screeching guitar/synth noises abound to start, then the rhythm begins to build itself strongly and assertively. Same harsh lyrics and deep melody, interspersed with piano solos which soften it somewhat. If this was done for contrast it needs to be more poignant, as it is it seems to weaken the track and ending as it did made me think the antidote didn't work! Hypo-Crysis, again I expect something harsher, from the title, and again there's a lot of piano and what seems to be a fairly random effort at rhythm. However, it's a long track and does have some interesting moments within it, but overall it seems a bit patchworked. The title kind of suits it. The tone takes a change about halfway through, with voice overs, I like this bit. It didn't make a mountain out of a mole-hill. Track 8, dark, intriguing. Then, Imparfait starts with a mild flourish and voice over, slightly and suitably synthetic. I'm sure French speaking listeners might be getting more out of this than I, because it sounds like it might be important to my interpretation of the track. Un Message has a good industrial ring to it, the voice (luckily/seemingly) unintelligible but maybe that's the message? N'est pas? Then the rock kicks in before midway, which then fades and wavers in and out of a whole host of other noises. Is this experimentation on-the-fly? Dark, rumbling voice does actually set it off quite nicely. Insectes, again smatterings of 'industrial', through the eyes of a fly, multi-dimensional but I think the little piano solos detract from the effect. Two minutes in and it's like a different track altogether, more rock than anything else. It's almost ballad-like in places, quite an odd mix. Eveil Ecoeure, soft ballad-like composition. Not sure how this track fits into the genres, it's not even alternative rock, but again with that curious twist about two minutes in when it takes on a different feel completely. More piano solos again. This is almost schizophrenic. Last, but not least, Expiation, which starts desolate but now I'm waiting for piano, and there it is, then lyrics I don't understand. Is this a declaration of making amends?
Overall, I found the compositions fairly confusing and difficult to comprehend. Be open-minded (and French speaking) for this one!-)
