Album description

de This text is not available in your chosen language, we are displaying it in its original language.

Entertainment for the Braindead is Julia Kotowski from Cologne and her music can be considered as acoustic, private, fragile and touching. Therefore she coined the term “acoustic dilettante post-something”, which refers to her unique D.I.Y. attitude that goes all along in the process of creating her music.

Just like her debut “Hypersomnia”, her new EP “Hydrophobia” is full of heart and soul and was created in her parents’ living room. There she spent hours in front of her laptop, recording track by track with a simple USB-microphone. Behind closed doors - with an open heart and mind - these colourful sounds and melodies of “Hydrophobia” emerged. Ukulele, guitar and flute are ever-present instruments, just like her unconventional percussion that consists of jars, cans, boxes, drawers and peppermills. Her intimate songs are detailed snapshots of thoughts and feelings that are part of Julia and her surroundings - sometimes filtered and reflected, sometimes pure and transparent.

What a lovely gentle, smooth, tender, sweet, album this is, so soft and gentle lyrics, and a tender soft voice that suits the tracks, great for romantic moans, and times of contemplation of times gone bye of lovers gone and lovers you have at present... Nice acoustic, passionate, emotional album.I loved it.. As it was not harsh and in your face like some types of music are..

Julia Kotowski's album is far too exquisite to be reviewed at the uncouth and deeply amateurish Catching The Waves, but that's what happens when you're too good to ignore. If you're in the mood to read bad prose about good music, please read the now rather dusty review of Hydrophobia by copying and pasting the link below into your browser's address bar. God, I hate html.

Absolutely, drop-dead gorgeousness throughout. The tender passion is truly exquisite to experience. So delicately, and elegantly composed and expressed. Like a butterfly around your head, in the fading rays of ancient sunlight.

Truly great work, I love it.
