The composer of this music was clearly going for a straightforward approach of communication without adventuresome harmonies. I think this was a success. The length of 4 of the 5 tracks in this album do come off as a sort of longer form poem, and, because of the evolving nature of the music, the length of those tracks is not too much for an average listener if he is into this genre.
The subject manner of Mars is an ingenious hook, to catch folks attention, in a musical world where things should either deal with outer space or, something of the darker side of the spirit world such as vampires or the like.
This is thuroughly listenable, and certainly good for those who wish to let their mind wander focusing on the shapes within the sound facade, and chill out during listening to music, as opposed to making one focus about the minutae music they may be listening to. The latter might get a high score for the wonkish qualities of the music, but not necessarily garner fans at large as this music can do by its own nature.
