Album description

This was the first album released by The Peach Tree whilst the project was in its early stages and had more members. It was named “The Gus Sessions” both because it was Angus’ solo stuff, and because there were plans to release accompanying solo efforts under the other band member’s names: mainly “The Cooney Sessions”. The band never got around to recording anything together though, or releasing any more band member’s material, so as The Peach Tree morphed into Angus’ solo project, The Gus Sessions was released as a lone soldier and cursory introduction to the depth and complexity of his work. It is very lo-fi and amateurish, recorded with a very basic set-up, yet despite this and perhaps because of it, the album has a distinct charm. It leaps about from moody sweet acoustic pop to techno to trippy rock, whilst staying consistent with themes of love, dreams and altered states of consciousness.
