Album description

Road to Somewhere is the 4th album from the jazz influenced music project Somewhere off Jazz Street. The work of musician Buz Hendricks mixes improvisation, sound effects and the sound of the saxophone. The music is all played by Buz using electronically generated sounds played from a keyboard.

This is a great combination of jazz and electronics. The jazz feel is strong and the use of electronic effects really give this a nice flavor. A couple favorites are Enter Orbit, which has an almost free feel mixed with special fx and The Angels Said, a nice sounding piece with choir voices that suddenly changes direction at the end where the sax starts to roar. According to the artist website, all the instruments and sounds are played on a keyboard which is quite amazing, especially listening to the saxophone sound. I have to admit, it had me fooled. But no matter how the sounds are made, the result is brilliant and in my mind, hope for the future of jazz.

Finally some new sound in jazz - people seem to be afraid of finding new ways of expression:the same "good old" sounds coming from everywhere.
But you are full of great ideas, making a definitly unique sound. This is very inspireing.
Don't forget to stop by for a jam,if around...unfortunetly I live in Hungary, and we don't even have any jam sessions here in the last few decades...so mainly I work by myself, putting tracks on each other, trying to come out with some new stuff, too.Welcome to check these out,if you wish(on JazzVision,YouTube,or MySpace, under my name.)
And well...I can totally understand the "sadness" of your music. After Bill Chase's band had that plane crash in 1974,happy music almost died out from this planet. :)
