Album description

The band, not being a real band, consequently never formed. And so, there is little to tell about its history.

I’ve been writing and recording around one song around every three months ever since. My songs eventually matured, and about a year ago, I took the ones I felt matched, and put them in my debut CD, Nocturnal Fables and Illusions.

Smooth, layback, stylish, sensitive, emotional, passionate, chilled, melodical, easy to listen to and a very enjoyable Album at that. His voice suits the style of his music very well, let alone the lyrics he sings to the music. The womans voice is perfect with his vocal range. all in all a great album.

Even the name of this ... this ... what is this now a solo artist or a band? You do not know. The name of the performer is already very cool. The cover arouses interest, if you are looking for something peaceful and relaxing, and a soundtrack to reflect this. Then you have the title of the album "Nocturnal Illusions and Fables" and you know you are in the right place.

The album combines a voice that is so scratchy and sensitive while rarely finds acoustic music, beautiful melodies, simple rhythms. And in an almost unbelievably good interplay of the components for a sound extraordinary impression. A total reassuring, comforting piece of music, never let's you down.

The opening song "Underwater Waltz" takes the listener on imaginary journeys through dazzling underwater worlds, secluded forests and mystical caves. The duet "A reason why" tells of the great love that you can almost feel so emotionally in the voice of Ben and an unknown woman's voice.

We can not list all the particularities of this album, let's just say: Nocturnal Fables and Illusions 44 minutes are pure wellbeing and dreams, and free for you to listen.

(I translated this review from German that was posted here earlier - I totally agree!)

I very much enjoyed the album as a whole. I feel that this album is a complete entity rather than a collection of individual songs that have little connection to one another, as so many albums are like these days. The flow of one song to the next is well done.

I just went to the public library the other day, scooped up about 15 albums that I was interested in, all by major artists, and none tickled my fancy -- all lacklustre and boring, yet here I listen to Ben's Imaginary Band's album and, hey, it's really good and worth listening to many times over; a breath of fresh.

I couldn't choose a favourite song as I'm enjoying the whole album so much that to extract a song here and there as being more favourable than the others would merely detract from the entire effort.

This is one of the better albums I have listened to on Jamendo in awhile. Every song flows well into one another very well.

I enjoyed it very much.

It took a little getting used to the whispery style of the vocals, but now I can't see how the album would be any good without it. The guitar work was of course, very pretty as well.

It's smooth, quiet, and even chilling at times. A very solid composition. Keep writing.

Soothing, he's got a nice voice. This is a good album to put on and just listen and feel nice.

Kind of melancholic... bitter-sweet, very honest and personal. I could totally imagine some of the songs in a movie... Give it a try... start with "A Reason Why"... or "Black Sheep". I also love the name of the band... Ben's Imaginary Band - as it is made by one guy who plays all the instruments on the album.
