This artist has a better idea of what punk is than most bands that call themselves punk. It is brilliant from the word go. I am just sad that I left it so long to get here, though life seems to present itself as a succession of times and places for everything. The attitude reminds me of a youth filled with the likes of Spizzenergi and their various derivatives. It doesn't take itself seriously, which is why I do. It's a wonderful pastiche of it's own music and vocals that allow such a passage of time as 3:33 to pass with profound entertainment, fun and skill in projecting itself at such a brilliantly obtuse angle in reflection, without being scared of its own shadow or preening itself into the belief that it is actually effective.
In this country of England this would be seen by the likes of me as an eccentric artist unafraid of self-criticism, let alone the petty moaning of others who wish to live their lives in an ontological bubble of delusion. Time is essential to music which seeks to fulfil the passage of it (time that is, in case you switched off halfway through the sentence), what these compartments of time encase is a daring style of pop with that added genre of psychedelic. If you've read Huxley that opens an untold number of doors of possible perception. Each equally valid as the next because perception is in the mind, not coming necessarily out of our mouths. Get it, and get with it, this is fantastic musical expression with its own sense of purpose and personalised quirks.
You will have to excuse my horrible English review, they are just words and I'm an existential epistemologist, so it's just my point of view. But, I try to dish out what I see are facts that can be gleaned from an experience of a piece of music bearing in mind the various heterotopic situations that an individual can find themselves in either conceptionally or receptively, i.e. subject to infinite variables. There was a lot of rubbish in the eighties (doesn't deserve a capital letter, in my memory), so what is so good about the development and progression in music these days? I am currently studying music, so that I can improve my attempts at reviews and it's turning into a PhD from hell for me. If you listen to this, allow your mind to open, just a little and you might find it has an exponential effect. Brilliant work M.
