Zywiolak - demo 2006
This release struck me by surprise. Absolutely. I was just browsing through Jamendo's releases and wanted to go and prepare breakfast. Then this massive & absolutely archaically brilliant demo came streaming out of my speakers.
This band fuses rock with a very archaic side of folk, though they are not only loud but also absolutely melodic and bearing great singers, great musicians, great arrangements. In a very good sense they are the first band ever that reminds me of the swedish phenomenon called Hedningarna and their greatest release "Trä" which stands for me as _the_ 90's one and only album milestone leaving even Nirvana far behind. Like Zywiolak are also using mainly female vocals plus sometimes male. This makes a very nice blend. The difference is that Zywiolak are much more melting folk with Rock and are using - if I hear right - an electronic Bass, but alike this is music both fans of Folk and Rock will love because it does only contain the best of both worlds. This is no half-hearted chrossover, this is great music!!!
I would more than love to find out more about this band, to hear _much_ more and to learn about the songs. Are they true folk songs or does Zywiolak does write their own? Plus: When will I be able to see them live?
