Loving the melodies in this album.

This album mixes oriental elements, ambiance and electronica in such a well crafted way. I feel this album would suit as a soundtrack to a documentary. The songs are great to listen to while being busy doing something else. The artist definitely has a talent in making songs that are soothing and wonderful at the same time.

The whole LP situates itself in the spheres of world ethnic ambient mixed with some electronic music. The project is very carefully produced and, technically, it sounds very well, although I have a few remarks concerning the compositions. Here they go:
La sixieme porte de Shanaaghar – good, meditative ambient piece, reminding me of first FSOL or ORB records.
Le nettoyeur – sounds like some criminal series theme, too soft for me.
The blue star – good electro, but the beat is too slow to make it hit for me. Big plus for sweet French accent ‘always togezer’ ;-)
Respire – Word-music ambient in the way that is too much predictable for me, I’m afraid.
Why – great ethnic vocals with techno trance background much better than Respire.
The new day – the words and the manner of singing make it too pompatic form me, but as an instrumental composition the song is really good.
Why (Trance remix by Ilya Malyuev) – I like trance, so I liked that remix, however it’s not a proper techno-trance as from Dragonfly Records for example.
La face cachée de la lune – very lunatic indeed, I quite enjoyed it.
Les chevaliers de l'Aar – Extremely good, nice descending atmosphere, great vibrating keyboard. One of my favourites.
Generally the record is too smoothed for me. I like it a little more experimental and raw but with more life. It cannot be seen on ‘Wood’ in every recording, and that’s why is ‘only’ 8. But, I must confess that the production of the LP is impressive.

Awesome album, the music is relaxing without being repetitive or boring.

Each song in Greg Baumont's album Wood has it's own theme, and that's something I look for in good music. The songs do not sound repetitious; despite the contrary, each song has a certain mood the artist is trying to pose, and he does so very admirably.

I try not to be overly critical, so I will simply highlight a few of the better songs in this album.

Le Nettoyeur starts off mysterious and then quickly shifts to seriousness and the theme of the song becomes apparent. I particularly like this song because it doesn't stop being good. Most songs like this lose sight of the theme about 10 seconds after it has been made clear, but not this song.

Respire !(The dervish) has sort of a tribal / third world distinction to the theme... which seems like it would be difficult to cross with techno. Either way, Greg Baumont does a really good job here.

Les chevaliers de l'Aar sounds somewhat medieval, but disappoints me because it doesn't really pick up where it should. It seems like this song has room to expand but doesn't--it just stays relatively confined to the ambient tune that is set early in the song. I still hold this song in high regard for its unique melody.

Overall, there are more good songs than bad, and this album deserves some more love from everybody!

Interesting sounds in each song, worth listening. When you listen to the album a couple of times you discover more of the song background sound.

One of the best albums for relaxation. It's not monotone.

Hope there will be new and even better album. Thx Greg

This is an excellent album. One of the best on Jamendo for sure. I've listened to it many times. Good job and keep up the good work!
