Album description

CIRCA VITAE is a diverse band that draws from many influences that include indie, experimental, and art rock. On the other hand, their songs are catchy enough to have pop qualities and edgy enough to hint at punk rock inspiration.

With the release of the self-titled EP in December of 2008, and the reputation of energetic live performances, CIRCA VITAE is generating a buzz in their hometown of Eugene and internationally.

With all five members hailing from different musical backgrounds, the collaboration of their efforts brings forth a plethora of human experience and emotion in the form of music. Britt Brady and Wesley Curtis, both on guitar, experiment with melodic noise washes and effects-driven riffs. The sound gains drive and energy with the dynamic rhythms of Thaddeus Moore on drums and prominent bass lines of Nate Beveridge. Ethereal vocal styling and multi-instrumental talent (violin, keys, and guitar) are served up by Anna Ponto, who joins Brady's wide vocal range and diverse style.

Circa Vitae uses music as a medium to transport listeners to common ground, a place where we all endure love, joy, alienation and suffering together. Awareness, humility and freedom of expression resonate through their music. The members of Circa Vitae create a soundscape laden with the full spectrum of human emotion, powered by internal fire.

CIRCA VITAE translates to “About Life”.

Pretty own stylish indeed!

A bit of radiohead, a bit of what I think is called college rock, now and then some noise.

You could risk a bit and use the noise stuff in the intro/outro of tracks, just like people do with classical music or electro.

Are there lyrics available by the way?

Keep it up!

Great album!!!!

These guys could become the next Radiohead. What a discovery! Stands out for strong vocals, both female and male, for perfect instrumentals, and for unexpected melodies that challenge and pleasantly surprise the listener. Circa Vitae, I'll remember this name. Can't wait for their next work to come out. "The Tower" is my favourite track so far.

On this EP, the main tracks are glued together with soundscapes in a way that recalls Jean Michel Jarre, the French synth pioneer -- an unexpected atmosphere enhancer for a rock/indie album. Works best when using a music player that supports continuous/seamless play of multiple MP3 files.

Keep in mind...a "9" would be the absolute best I'd give any album 99.99% of the time. I've heard only a handful of albums I'd give a "10". That said...this band references a couple of decade's worth of musical sounds- ringing/driving 80's-style guitars, powerful female vocals, little bits of electric fuckery tying tracks together...it's a little something you've heard before but original enough to keep coming back. I do like alot!

This track completely captivates my mind... it's like Jane's Addiction without the heroin!

Psychedelic beauty via sound... nicely done!

wOW!It sounds amazing!!One of the best sounds I've ever heard!!!
I am an amateur filmaker, not for money, just for love to art.
I would like to put some tracks of this amazing record in my current movie:"The Crow:Evil's Night",now in progress.
You can see our stuff, interviews and much more of the making on our own website www.fingerpies.com,and I will be thanxfull if I could put some of these tracks to ambient the movie that is gonna to be seen worldwide online and for free.
Also I will include credits of the artist on the credits roll at the end of the movie and if you don't mind, even make a videoclip with the scenes of the movie and your music in background.
Please!!!!Please!!!
I already have your music in my iPhone anyway,I can't stop listening!!!
I'll will appreciate an answer.
Thanx anyway!!

Stumbled across this one when I clicked on "Discover This Artist", and I'm glad I did!

The songwriting, start to finish, easily qualifies as among Jamendo's best. It's strongly reminiscent of Jane's Addiction, Radiohead and a handful of others whose names I can't remember right now. The sound quality is perfect, and I mean that; this sounds like it came off a major-label mixing board.

How to describe the songs? Eerie, floating, haunting, spacey, melodic, beautiful and damn near epic, and that's not an exaggeration.

You owe it to yourself as a human being to listen to this album if you truly believe in rock and roll.

For me anyway, this takes me back to another age indeed, and looking back it seems prehistoric for sure. Nicely put together and executed with a confident energy. As far as the geese are concerned, they might not see as much as feel, and that's the elusive energy source we are all prone to, revive and survive. Lovely piece. Stranger is cool, even as I grow older, it just gets more complicated to keep track of things. I'm a stranger to myself sometimes. I like Trace Mammoth, at least the outline. Into the vocalisms of Shine. Nice enough as I see the style emerge from another atmosphere. Not sure which I prefer they both have endearing qualities, all things being derivative to some degree. End Water a daydream moment, then it's to The Tower for you. Quite like the feel of this one, could listen to this numerous times.
