"Better Than the Beatles!"

Finished before Big Robot, Little Robot, this one is put here as a "reissue". Origininated out of bitterness, this album explores the effects of "human presence" (and lack thereof) in music in different, apparently disjointed, ways.

• "Thunders" has vocals and lyrics by myself, as well as the poem De Destructione Romae by Swedish writer Christina Nordlander. The first half of the track was entirely produced on a tiny early 90's Casio keyboard, while the latter half was made with MIDI in more conventional ways. The lyrics are a longwinded rant against rain -- a half-serious snapshot of an annoyed mind;
• "I'd Rather Be Home" is a pop song, with entirely sampled and/or synthesized instrumentation, and vocals that pop up in the last third of the song or so. The lyrics are rather childlike in their topic, though not so much in their tone. The vocals end here;
• "Pompous and Pretentious" was handplayed by me on an electronic keyboard, and is the last, more tired and more mistake riddled take of a short, contrived session. The emotional intensity of the performance is confronted by the almost total lack of melody;
• "Tetralogy" was made with MIDI instruments and several samples of househeld objects serving as percussion. The whole score is a palindrome, which means it sounds identical if performed backwards. Several elements of the piece are small palindromes, to make the piece flow better overall and cause "echoes" of itself;
• "All Full of Nine o'Clock", again produced with MIDI, is a pastiche of traditional music from the south of Brazil and countries around it, very energetic, rhythm and accordeon driven. Celebrating old home-recorded tapes, the song is accompanied by sounds recorded casually in my house one night.
