No irritating grunts, not pretentious over the top vocals, no trying to prove oneselves as "proper" black, this is quite simply soul and swing. And WHAT a singer. This reminds me a lot of UK singers such as Beverley Knight, Dina Carroll, Des'ree, Linda Lewis etc ( a great shame few US vocalists that we get to hear about sound like this) . Yes, you could call it a little dated, but so what. I f**king love it. Keep it up MORE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously just one song off an album, but still quite good. Rachel Brown has an incredible voice, and the music sounds like an interesting fusion of funk, dance and jazz. I don't usually review single tracks, since it's hard to evaluate them against albums, but this song is exceptional.
