pop indie alternative melodic guitar plod guitars gentle chug flute

Album description

Pondlife Fiasco is quite dark but some of the tracks have an positive upside. Drums are a lot rockier than the previous  Heifervescent albums and there's a bit more overdrive on tracks such as Deep Sea Diver. All the tracks have prominent melodies and are led my shimmering guitars, strings and subtle hints of brass and flutes.

Opening the album, "When the stars fall from grace" is heavily laden with jangly guitars over acoustics. The song's about a hapless guy who can't do anything right for his lover. The more he tries, the more desparate he looks, the more desparate he looks, the less she feels for him. He goes away where he can't do any more damage, but still feels he can't do any good for anyone.

The more I listen to this album the better it gets.

It is such a pleasure on the ears, one of, if not the best, albums on Jamendo without a doubt.

This is an awesome album, let alone a great band, to check out and simply enjoy. This guy has an excellent voice, great music and great lyrics. Type of album you will play over and over again, let alone keep in your all time record collection.

The more I listen to the album, the more it grows on me. There's a lot of talent, whether instrumentally, vocally, compostion-ally or production-ally (excuse my writing). From the first riff I can hear a Beatles influence, though I'd primarily label the album Britpop (Echo & The Bunnymen style?) with the lovely twist that accompaniment which would usually be arranged for an orchestra is played on synthesizer. The vocals have a hint of Lennon, Morrissey (or Cass McCombs) and maybe even Ian Brown? The vocalist is no copy cat though, it's a very natural performance. Don't be put off by the simplicity of the first track, the bridge is well writ, as is the rest of the album. Try track six, 'It's Coming Together, or two, Deep Sea Diver, to receive a taste of how lovely this pop album is.
