Myriam Matoussi chante.

I completely disagree with other reviewers who find the background music 'muddy' - it's not at all. Rather I find, in this album, the music and Myriam's soulful singing are matched, unlike some of her other albums where a more zippy lounge-type music is oddly paired with her Middle-Eastern voice of sensuality and longing, of the spirit traveling its long desert journeys finding oasis in beautiful music like this.

I particularly like the multiple voices, the sense of mourning, of the strength of the heart of love.

The background accompaniment of drums and ambient sounds and perhaps jazz instruments, it's hard to say, it's a wonderful blend, also reminds me of traditional Japanese music. I'm thinking of Shakuhachi, somehow her voice and the distant sounds, like cargo detached from its sinking boat hitting the rocks, the rhythm and power of the ocean, that assortment of natural organic sounds. (Though the last piece in the album, Yasmine President, doesn't work for me - it's a throw-back to that boppi synthesized sound of other albums which I don't find a good match for Myriam's soulful sensual voice & I'll have to delete that one from my download unfortunately, which is a pity since her voice in that piece reaches an apex of such sweetness.)

That said, there's a lot of experiment in this album with different sound scapes for different tracks and sometimes in the same track and I enjoy the variety. I've downloaded for iPod pleasure as Myriam sings my world into being while I walk through the streets of my city.

Thank you for sharing your talent!

I was seduced by the beauty of this alluring voice and entranced by the music. The artist should be applauded for making something so refreshingly fun, catchy and uplifting."Erinesh By en voute he" & "Aboibi nag Champa " would grace any music collection.

What genre would this be . .. . but "absolutely delightful" and with the sweet ethereal voice of Myriam and the exotic and eclectic music which flows around her like liquid honey . . .

These songs are worth listening to for their unusual beauty. This is an exercise in finding new ways to listen, catch a nuance, feel the emotion wash over you and fill your spirit with a human connection that goes beyond vocabulary or love making. . . .

To me it was like listening to a musical one thousand and one Arabian Nights . . . something glowed there with mystery and such far eastern beauty . . . that caught my attention, hypnotized me and captured my heart. I smelled the spices and felt the silk brush my cheeks as I sat on a distant world listening to something so foreign to me and yet so familiar. . ..

Exquisite! If you dare to listen be ready for an unique experience that may be something beyond what you have ever attempted before. It may even frighten some as the sound recording is so well done that I began to feel that this voice (which was the showcase ) was in my head . . .sometimes musical, melodic, harmonic, and often playful . . . was she flirting with me ? . . . But definitely the music was only the frame for the beautifully captivating Mariam Matoussi . . .

I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed this album . . . I love unusual things and especially when so much love and creativity is put into it . . . it shows . . .and so I was blown away . ..

I do not recommend it to anyone.

I find it strange at first but actually interest, its like a blending different genre of musics together. I like it eventually like them.

I like concept and i like female vocals in arabic (i hope i didn't miss language). BUT, production seems a little "dirty" in certain pieces. I mean, instrumental parts are little too fuzzy and too much in background.

I like it.

On the opposite! I find it absolutely original not to be associated with trance or new age or some other background beat... This sound is different, and I appreciate it like that! There is a big potential, and Myriam's voice is awesome!
Keep it up!

...if the sounds were to be mixed with some rock or trance will probably sound very cool, however they are not; also, as i saw at many jamendo artists, there are no english lyrics, so even if might there be a message that would compensate other things, that is not available...
thanks 4 sharing :)
